“Very relaxing; Great view!”
Reviewed November 15, 2011

We needed a quick getaway for the November long weekend and we stayed at Coracle Cove. The view there is fantastic! We enjoyed watching the sunrise over Sechelt Inlet from the dock and relaxing in the hot tub.

The suite is private and has ocean views, although the views from the rooms are a bit obstructed by trees and the large deck of the main house above. We didn't mind as it encouraged us to go outside and enjoy the fresh air from the dock, but your mileage may vary.

Jack was a great host and provided us with lots of suggestions for things to see and do on the Sunshine coast. The breakfasts were delicious, and the portions were not overwhelmingly large.

If you decide to visit, don't worry about the driveway. It is steep, but very safe, and there is lots of room to turn around at the bottom.

Room Tip: There is only one room.

Thanks for taking the time to complete this review. The Sunshine Coast is a very special place and I enjoy sharing my community with my guests, so I'm happy that my suggestions enabled you to get more out of your getaway. I also publish a photo-blog on my website. "Everything Sunshine Coast" has a large number of recommendations about activites and restaurants, including suggested daily itineraries. We stayed at Coracle Cove for three nights, in an effort to find some relaxation after a hectic few months. Coracle Cove was the perfect place to relax!

The suite is the lower portion of the house, and is perfectly sized . We didn’t take advantage of the cooking facilities (kitchen and BBQ) but noted that we could easily cook simple meals if we had chosen (maybe on a future visit?). The rooms were comfortable and well appointed, the bed was a bit soft for us but that is just personal taste.

The best feature was the variety of outside locations. My favourite morning spot was the private deck right outside the living space– lots of birds and a great view! We took full advantage of hot tub and floating dock, spending several hours reading, enjoying wine or just watching the ocean.

The breakfasts were amazing, and served in the suite. We had three very different and delicious breakfasts, each of which took advantage of the local seasonal produce. We also enjoyed chatting with Jack each morning and learning more about the local community. He had several great suggestions of activities, his recommendations for restaurants were appreciated and very accurate, and his knowledge of businesses and events really enhanced our stay.

I would encourage anyone looking to stay in the Sechelt area to consider Coracle Cove, It is worth the short drive and although the driveway looks a bit scary, it really isn’t..

This was our second stay at Coracle Cove, and it is as wonderful as we remember.

My wife and I love the Sunshine Coast, and this little B & B is one of our favourites in the Sechelt area. It is a bit out of the way out on Sandy Hook, but that just adds to the tranquility of the place. Down a very steep driveway, amid the cedars, pines, and arbutus trees, is an idyllic little B & B that truly feels like a home; and you are the only guests.

Going beyond the simple bed and breakfast philosophy, the space is a good sized suite with a separate entrance, private deck, and access to a BBQ, hot tub, and a floating dock - a perfect place for taking in the calm quite early morning.

There is a very functional kitchen. A sitting area with TV and DVD player with a nice selection of movies available. The bedroom has plenty of room even with a king size bed. Although the bed was a bit soft for us, it is comfortable with good pillows. The art and antique furniture complete the eclectic décor. In the bathroom, there are cosy bathrobes for two, and extra towels for the hot tub.

The breakfasts were delicious, and served in the suite. Jack’s attention to detail is wonderful, and he was very happy to accommodate our requests for vegetarian breakfasts.

Jack is a charming and gracious host, and like many B & B owners on the Sunshine Coast, he has strong ties to the community. He is always able to suggest great places to hike, things to do, and restaurants to try.

Our stay was too short this time, but a wonderful, peaceful stay it was none the less.

I would encourage anyone looking to stay in the Sechelt area to consider Coracle Cove, I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed.

We picked this destination largely based on tripadvisor reviews, which proved for the most part to be spot on. As Coracle Cove B&B accommodates only one group of guests we felt like we had the place to ourselves, in fact because we did! Jack and Sheila Pope were the perfect hosts, never imposing on our privacy, yet welcoming us into their extended home. The breakfasts were delicious, sufficient and customized to our liking...and timing. It was also nice to have them brought to our apartment - calling it a "room" would be a disservice. It was a well equipped one bedroom suite, with truly spectacular views. All rooms were clean and well cared for. The setting was unforgettable...and quiet! The only real noises to be heard were the bald eagles talking to one another in the morning and the occasional float plane passing through. As the apartment is located in the lower level of the hosts' house, you can hear footsteps from above every once in a while, but they were only noticeable in the morning, which served as a reminder that breakfast was on its way. Again, the combination of the overall tranquility of the place (including an incredible hot tub setting), the gracious hosts, and the surrounding natural beauty made for a very memorable retreat for my family of four, including my 9 year old and 12 year old daughters.

We had never been to Sunshine Coast, but decided, after reading about the area, to include a stop on our whirlwind road trip around Southwest BC. Booked late, and Coracle Cove was one of a handful of places still with availability. Jack provided a friendly welcome even over the phone when I called to reserve, including a description of the car show that was scheduled in the town of Sechelt on our arrival date.

We ended up arriving later than we had planned, and our host was out, but a note directed us to the room, asking to us call to arrange for breakfast. The room is very comfortable and spotless, not spacious, the size of a decent 1 bedroom apartment, which is what it is, and tastefully decorated with a seashore theme. However the real value is not in the room but in the property. You exit a sliding door to a deck, then walk down a path to another larger deck next to the shore of Sechelt Inlet, with a hot tub, chairs and lounges, and a boat house that's not really a boat house, but another place to lounge around, furnished with a comfy couch. Finally, you can walk down the dock on the water, to another pair of chairs for a serene view of the town of Sechelt across the Inlet. A beautiful spot, which we didn't really get a chance to fully appreciate since the weather got cool, cloudy and windy that morning.

Jack's breakfast's were tasty and carefully prepared. We had several nice conversations with him, after we discovered some common interests.

And, when I had discovered I left some clothing in the room (I NEVER do that), he quickly arranged to ship it to my home. Thanks again, Jack

We (30years, 2pers) spent 2 nights at Coracle Cove. The location of this place is just great and perfect to start a sunshine-coast/Vancouver Island journey.
Unfortunatley we booked the Coracle Cove at the beginning of our trip, so it was not beatable for the other places we stayed.
The most beautiful thing was, the privacy, the uncomplicated atmosphere which was given from Jack&Sheila. On the first day we did some Kajaking (first time) and has been just a great experience, to be on the Inlet, to paddle and see the beautiful coast with trees and different colours, birds...
The Coracle Cove was ideal for us to relax and to discover Sechelt and environment. We went also to the Supermarket in Sechelt and bought some fresh, nice Smokeeye Salmon and had the possibility for grilling outside before our terrace. For us just like in heaven :).
We hope to come again!
Thank you for the good various breakfast from you!
