Description: The Renfrew Pub is the homey gathering place for locals and visitors at the heart of Snuggery Cove. Friendly and inviting, it’s the sort of place even first-timers swear they’ve been before. The waterfront pub and restaurant occupies an enviable spot, right next to the dock. Our craft brews include crisp, cold favourites from right around here: Vancouver Island Brewery High Trail Honey Ale, Lighthouse Race Rocks, Saltspring Island Golden Ale, Phillips Blue Buck, Granville Island Raspberry Ale. And we’re just getting started. Our food is all about quality with a fresh, homespun focus. Chickens are roasted daily on site; sauces and gravies are built from scratch. The baked goods are handcrafted, fries hand-cut, and herbs pulled fresh. Choose from sumptuous burgers or boat-to-table seafood drawn from nearby waters. The Pub serves breakfast (weekends), lunch and dinner, along with elevated pub fare — wings for the game and gooey poutine. Snuggle up or wake up with a steaming mug of Discovery Coffee from Victoria’s beloved roastery, and let the day unspool.

“Pub Food is Fine, Servers Are Hard to Find”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2012

If you're the only restaurant in town do you need to try? YES! On Saturday afternoon you should have staff to serve! If there isn't a server for the deck you should let the people that are sitting there know that! If the lager keg runs out don't just serve pale ale, it's not the same thing!

“Very good, in a great setting.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2012

Port Renfrew is a sleepy hamlet about an hour and a half to two hour drive along a scenic (and much improved) road northwest from Victoria. As such, you won't find five-star cuisine here at the Port Renfrew Hotel, but you will find classic pub food done well. Their menu is not extensive, but covers most of the basics such as soups, salads, steak, chicken, and rib entrees, fish & chips, and sides like onion rings and even poutine.
Inside the restaurant the decor is pure West Coast: teal paint, wood, and large windows overlooking San juan Bay, all accentuated with First Nations artwork. The outdoor deck is wonderful to eat on, and we did last summer, today it was closed.
Today I ordered a hamburger with Mozza cheese, bacon, and fries. The beef patty was thick, flavourful, and clearly handmade. It was topped with crisp lettuce, raw onion rings, and sweet pickle slices (a nice change from the usual dill variety), and served on a toased bun. The two large strips of bacon were cooked perfectly; not too crisp, not too rubbery. The fries were nice and crisp, a bit more oily than I like but not to the point of sending them back. The portion was generous. Topped off with a cup of excellent coffee, this was a delicious and filling lunch.
The basic beef burgers here start at $10, then you add what you like. Extras like cheese, bacon, mushrooms etc are $1 each. Other entrees like ribs, and chicken & rib combos range up to about $25 or
so.
Service by the single server was friendly; neither overdone nor neglectful. Time from ordering to service was about 15 minutes. Not bad for a nearly full restaurant and one server on duty.
We've eaten here previously over the last couple of years and the quality and service were about the same, so it appears this restaurant also has consistency going for it.
While the inside ambience is nice, definitely try eating out on the deck on a sunny day...it's wonderful.

“Great food in a rustic pub setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2011

I've eaten here a few times on business trips and would certainly go back at pleasure. The fish and chips are always my fave. You get a choice of fish, the halibut rocks! And you can have it grilled or the traditional fried. The Chowder is wonderful, the most flavorful I've had at a restaurant. The setting is beautiful, nice woodwork, awesome native art and also a dining area overlooking the water that seemed to be open from June on but not in the spring, though the pub was open every evening in April.
