The room was basic, but clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Could have used some oil to cook with, but found some at the General Store. Lucked out and had powder skiing our first day. I would definitely recommend this resort to a friend.

Room Tip: We stayed at the Panorama Springs which is attached to the big pools.

poorly managed ski hill. Not enough snow on many runs and trails. Great if you like skiing over rocks. These areas should be closed off. Just destroyed the bases of my brand new skis. Have a nice day!

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry to here about your skis. Ski conditions can vary greatly throughout the ski season and I'm sorry to hear that they weren't the best during your stay. Overall, we've had a pretty good year for total snowfall. Taynton Bowl has been fantastic most of the season and our groomers are always terrific. We'd love to have you back after an epic snowfall. I'm sure if you skied here when the conditions are great we could get you to change your mind :)

All the best,

SM

For what it is, it was perfect. Our room was right next the chair and on the mountain. It's very basic, but the location was outstanding being right next to the restaurants and skiing. Actually, I'm surprised they don't charge more than $84.00/night.

Their pool wasn't working, so they gave us passes to the hot pools which was great!

I don't know why people give it a low rating. Don't have high expectation, it's a basic hotel providing the necessities in a top location at a low price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the mountain!

Hi Rachel T,

Thanks for your review of the Pine Inn. It’s likely the closest hotel to a chairlift anywhere! We are sorry to hear that the upper pool was experiencing a maintenance issue during your stay, but we’re glad you were able to relax in one of the many hot tubs on the resort.
We hope that you will stay with us again!

Sincerely,
JH.

We stayed in room 409 for our three week vacation in January 2013.
The condo was lovely and large, with a great view of the courtyard and mile one quad/showoff slope. It had a high cathedral ceiling in the lounge, and had a well equipped kitchen area. However we had a few problems while there.

The door could be pushed open into the condo without needing a key card. This was quite promptly sorted out by the maintenance team.

Room 409 is by a stairwell which was noisy during our earlier (and busier) time there. Lots of people stomping up and down stairs at all hours, sometimes in boots, is not great for the occupants of the double bedroom. However this was nothing compared to the generator or whatever it was that came on constantly night and day for around 3-4 minutes, and then went off for a few minutes, before starting all over again. Just as you were drifting off to sleep, it would switch on again, and you would be wide awake. Not great especially when still suffering from jet lag. We repeatedly asked about this with several members of staff, being told it would be fixed in 8 days. Would we like to move? We were offered a condo in the neighbouring building, but it was smaller with less nice a view so we declined, to wait out the repair. Also as we were there for three weeks with two young children it was not a great prospect, especially for a less nice option. However the noise was never addressed, and indeed the fault got louder, and by the end of our stay was still there, and back to waking me up again. In my opinion if there is such an issue, the guest should be offered a superior option by way of acknowledgment of the situation. This was not provided.

The water was turned off for scheduled maintenance which we were aware of. However it went on longer than planned - which can't be helped - and we were offered a room change which we declined as above. They provided us with spring water for our use, and it was back on by 10.30pm. However the sinks and toilets, and also the dishwasher spewed filthy water for days which wasn't great. No one came to clean the condo bathroom, despite other guests advising them that all the condos would need flushing out properly and then cleaning. We were however on quest given the key for another condo so we could shower etc that evening which was great.

Housekeeping was very mixed. We went 8 days before anyone came to properly service the room and change the beds, and this was after several visit to guest services. It was irregularly provided, and the first couple who came while we were in, asked did we really need anything??! Like bins emptying? What?? Thankfully it was never the same person for this reason - and the rest of the different bunch often appeared late in the day when we were back from skiing, but changed the beds for us, and even sorted the dishwasher emptying or filling, emptied bins, changed towels etc. the only other complaint (after the first eight days of no cleaning) was that nobody at all ever cleaned either of the two bathrooms, or dusted anywhere. Coffee was also inconsistently replaced, ie rarely, and the machine was confusing so I wasted a couple of packets by only getting cold water out of it. Gave up...

However on a very positive note, the snow school team, everyone from booking to the instructors were all fantastic. Our children had a ball, and came on leaps and bounds in their time there. They also tried snowboarding, to mixed results! School staff were always friendly and chatted to us on the slopes and in the bars. Special thanks to Katie in Snow School (who I dealt with prior to the stay in reservations), and instructors Georgia, Lisa Pizza, Ryan (who patiently took thousands of snowballs off my children!), Rosie. Everyone was fantastic, thank you. The school deserves its excellent reputation, and we would return for this alone. The school also uses the Flaik system so there's peace of mind with GPS tracking, and you get to see what they've done at the end of the day which is cool - but only on a pc, iPads don't work as the website is flash based - *tip*!

The entertainment staff was also exceptional. Our children had fun at games night and film night, both free, which allowed us to sneak off for a quick drink at the T Bar! They also had great fun fort building with these two girls, and tried the eurobungee ($8 for five minutes but they loved the experience!)

Tobogganing we also tried which was great fun, though the cheap plastic sledges used were falling apart, but I guess they get a hammering, as it was only three weeks into the season! Tubing we didn't do largely due to the cost. It did look fun however.

Restaurants, all fine and reasonably priced. Loved the stir fries at lunchtime in the Great Hall, and the smartie cookies....yum! We would have liked another eatery option however, but we were there for longer than most guests would stay.

We went for the seasons pass for the lifts, bought in the summer of 2012 which worked out very well, slightly cheaper, and lots of great benefits. The children had the lesson pass, which was ok value, but only because we couldn't always get full day lessons for them due to the quietness of the resort. They could only go if there was another regular child in the lesson. However they accommodated us whenever possible in half days even on their own, so I guess it evened out more or less in cost. And they did end up with basically private lessons for much of their time there.

Snow? Well you can never count on Mother Nature, but she did give us a huge dump after six days. However this had to last the rest of the remaining two weeks, there was no more, and it did go very rocky on the ungroomed areas of Sun Bowl, Founders Ridge, etc. Slopes were all quiet, even on the powder days we had View of 1000 Peaks to ourselves, and this was heaven. We couldn't fault the area otherwise, there's something for all levels. However be warned - this hill markets itself as a family resort - don't be fooled into reading into this as it's an easy mountain!! It's much steeper than I imagined it to be, which was fine for us, but may not work well for all.

We spent a week over New Year's and had a great time with our kids (ages 4,6,8)They had a super time in a ski camp which allowed us to ski as a couple and then ski with our kids after. the babysitting/child care centre was fantastic. Ski instructors were knowledgable. Beautiful snowy walks at Nordic centre, we skied in the NYE torch light parade. They had an amazing firework display on NYE as well. Restaurants were good. Invermere close by with great grocery store and art galleries. We are already planning our trip for next year.

Room Tip: stay at PAnorama Springs for best access to hot springs
