“A relaxing Weekend”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

We had a great weekend at Halcyon! We stayed in a one-bedroom chalet, with a full kitchen and bathroom, which was perfect, not to mention so cute! There is not much to do at Halcyon besides relax...which for us included visiting the warm/hot pools often, the spa, short walks and naps. Although there is a great restaurant, there could be a bit more to do, perhaps a coffee shop, or lodge with books, games, comfy chairs, fires, etc. But all around, this is a great escape for a relaxing weekend away!!

We traveled to the Kootenays for one night last weekend. Our friends invited us to join them for a birthday dinner at the Kingfisher restaurant at Halcyon Hot Springs so we decided to book a cabin for the night. We were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived to the cabin set on the hillside above the main lodge. We walked in to the cozy cabin, and were very pleased to find they had warmed it for us which was appreciated on the chilly day. The view over the Arrow Lakes and the mountains is like no other.

There was a comfortable queen bed, with flat screen TV on the wall, a 3 piece bathroom well stocked with plenty of towels in the cupboard and two plush bathrobes on the bed waiting for us. A love seat in the room to sit on and just relax with a glass of wine. A small deck to admire the view from or just stand listening to the birds in the trees.

In the morning when we woke there was absolute silence, we could not hear a noise. We enjoyed a very relaxing and romantic cuddle in the main hot springs before heading up to the restaurant for lunch. Our cabin did not have kitchen facilities at our choosing but many of them do have full kitchens depending on what you would prefer. The housekeeping service was excellent with all details attended to and the front desk service was exceptional with very friendly staff. We were provided with towels for our use with the soak in the pool which was also included with the rental of the cabin. By the way there are 3 pools to choose from at this time of year, one at 100 degrees, one at 106 and the cold plunge pool for those brave folk. There is large seasonal pool to enjoy during the summer months which is warmed but not as hot as the other ones.

P.S. A great dinner was enjoyed by all which I won't review here because there is not enough space but let me say it was absolutely gourmet. My husband said he felt like he was a judge on Iron Chef. Complements to Tyler Leeson, Executive Chef and all his crew. Thanks again for a very enjoyable evening.

Unfortunately we did not have time to explore the spa services but perhaps that is for our next little romantic runaway. Thanks Halcyon, we will be back.

Room Tip: Try a cabin if you don't need the kitchen services.

Experienced a 3 night spa special; stayed in cabin 3 in January. Arrived through a snow storm and slid down the hill but all was good. Enjoyed no cell phones or computer; back to nature. The trees were full of snow, it was a winter wonderland. We don't normally go out in the snow, we hibernate or go somewhere warm. Remembered how to use a pay phone to call home, & enjoyed our cabin with queen bed,tv,fridge, washroom & porch. We ate all our meals at the Kingfisher Restaurant; which were OK. The mineral pools are relaxing thanks to the lithium mineral plus magnesium, calcium, sodium, zinc & strontium. The view of the Arrow Lakes were beautiful. We enjoyed our get away so much that we sent my parents, who are in their 70's to stay at the pool side cabin for their anniversary. They went in March; ate their breakfast & lunch in their cabin and had their supper at the Kingfisher. My mom even enjoyed a massage!! When we go again we will eat only our suppers at the restaurant as it's a bit pricey.

Room Tip: If it's winter be prepared, have boots to walk to lobby!!

We stayed one night at the Halcyon hot springs resort.
Found it to be really nice although the accomodation was a bit small and fairly pricey for what you got.
However the pool side cottage contained everything we needed to enjoy our visit.
Had a wonderful dinner and breakfast in the restaurant.
The hot springs are really great.

Room Tip: We had the poolside cottage which is quite small but is adequate for two people. There are other ca...

I went to Halcyon this summer for a wedding and it was great. It was a small gathering which was peaceful, quiet and beautiful. They had lots of lodging options which was good, but i think next time i visit i will opt for a villa or cottage. It was very difficult to back a trailer up into the tight spots and they trailer area is very close to one and other. I'd say out of everything that was the worst part for me.
I would visit again though for sure. It is stunning, quiet and relaxing. The pools are great and the staff are mainly helpful.
I know the Bride-to-be had a lot of help setting up everything from the staff and she was very thankful for it. Which is perfect!!!

We stayed for the third time in one of the Village Chalets. The accomodation is excellent - albiet somewhat pricey. The units are modern, clean, and extremely comfortable, however a few little touches like some basic supplies in the kitchen would be nice (spices, oil, cream and sugar for coffee for example). They have a lot of trouble with their Wi-Fi connection - so be aware if you need to be in touch with the outside world, it is intermittent. On our third day of having trouble connecting the front desk finally told us that they only open it up for guests during select hours - probably something worth mentioning at the onset.
The lakeside location is wonderful, the onsite restaurant is very good and the pools are beautiful. The town of Naksup and the beach are well worth visting as well.

We stayed for 2 nights in a one bedroom cabin. Very comfortable accommodation, from our small balcony we had a view through the trees to the lake. It is a quiet and relaxing resort, we did not have cell phone or internet access and we did not miss it. The hot pools are wonderful, and we found many other guests to be friendly for chatting with as we floated around the pool.

The food in the Kingfisher restaurant is wonderful, though not cheap. We did get a meal package, which provides meal vouchers and that helped reduce the overall cost of meals.
