“Unplug and unwind”

Halcyon Hot Springs Spa
Ranked #3 of 7 things to do in Nakusp
Attraction details

If you're looking for a place to really unwind, this is it. The hot springs at Halcyon overlook the area mountains and lake and truly soothe and melt away the stress. We've stayed here year round - in basic cabins (very comfortable) and the luxurious Loft Chalets - with beautiful beds, duvets and full kitchen. The meals in the Kingfisher Restaurant are exceptional - considering the remoteness of the resort. Located just 10 minutes south of the Galena Bay Ferry ( a free 20 minute ride across the Arrow Lake), getting here is part of the whole experience. Our family loves coming here and wish we came over more often. Limited cell phone access over here. You will find travellers, families with children and people of all ages here.

Halcyon was and still could be an amazing and affordable hot spring/spa experience. Unfortunately they haven't identified who they are marketing to.
Is it a kid play land, or an adult oriented relaxation destination.

The staff makes no effort to supervise or inform parents to keep their children from splashing, jumping, screaming and generally ruining a quiet therapeutic experience.in the hot soaking pools.
So lately ( last 2 years) it feels more like a public swimming pool than the classy resort it once was. Sadly there is a fantastic cool pool below for the more exuberant guests, but again staff can't be bothered to reinforce the rules.

Parents end up running the pool, while seniors retreat to the quiet corners or have argue with them over what the rules really are. Halcyon also hasn't had the forethought to introduce adult only swim times which would alleviate part of the problem.
Parents seem to think its appropriate to bring their little darlings toys, flippers, balls etc. onto the hot pool deck and feel it's OK to bring babies and toddlers into the hot pools at 10 o'clock at night.
My recent experience saw many arguments between parents and the many poor seniors who where subjected to tolerating misbehaving kids and then arguing with self righteous helicopter parents because there was no staff with the foresight and confidence to come out and intervene.

Don't need it, and don't want it, so we won't go back until Halcyon management gets there act back together and brings back the world class standards that made it a go to destination just a few years ago.
. I booked for a club this year (approx. 100 people) and we totally avoided Halcyon except one stop over for this reason.

Nakusp however does enforce and encourage a relaxing environment, and that, if your looking for a true hot spring experience makes it far more worth the trip.

My girl friends and I spent a night in a loft chalet overlooking the hot springs. The beds were superb. The view of the mountains incredible. The hot springs were fabulous. We had a wonderful dinner at their Kingfisher restaurant. It was gastronomic! The whole experience...even the drive up from Nelson was beautiful. We even got up early and went in the hot springs before breakfast. I had the special..peaches on Belgium waffles. Fabulous!

What I like the most at Halcyon Hot Springs is that the pools are not chlorinated, instead the mineral water coming from natural sources is treated with ozone before reaching the pools. The view around Halcyon is magnificent, all pools have spectacular panorama over Upper Arrow Lake and the Monashee Mountaints. Coming out from the changing rooms, you'll see three pools: the hot one at 42C, a large warm pool at 32C and a small ice-cold plunge at 12C. I've enjoyed all of them, alternating the hot one with the cold one has many benefits for my health, it's like having a natural vaccine without any side effects. Downstairs there is a large swimming pool for you enjoy; the temperature here is around 30C. What makes the water of the springs at Halcyon so unique is the Lithia concentration, which was proven to be six times stronger than any other springs in North America. Have a wonderful time at Halcyon!!

Came here for a much needed break from our busy lifestyle.
Stayed for two nights.. had rain for most of the time. We stayed in a chalet , which was quite clean . There are very interested hiking trails, the pools are refreshing and revitalizing.
We really needed the no cell coverage which really does let you relax!

We highly recommend this resort to families and couples!
