“A short but impressive walk up the canyon”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

A really pretty short walk up to the waterfall at the top of the canyon. There are well trodden paths with fences and bridges criss crossing across giving really pretty views at all the different levels. The water comes crashing down and it sounds fabulous. Definitely stop if you have 45 minutes to spare. Toilets in the car park.

“Impressive Narrow, Deep Canyon”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

I thought this Canyon in Kootenay a much better viewing experience than Johnston Canyon in Banff. It's much shorter with a very narrow gorge getting progressively deeper over a much shorter distance. There are crossover bridges at many points for photos( which don't accurately portray distance). Because of a fire the new growth in the area is interesting compared to heavily wooded areas in Banff etc. I also feel the falls at the end are also better or at least as good as the two in Johnston. If you are short on time pick this one.

“Nature at its best!”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

This is such a beautiful place to visit and a very easy stroll. No exertion required!
A startlingly deep split in the earth with blue glacier water gushing far below, it's easy to become mesmerised when gazing down from any of the many bridges which criss-cross the canyon along this easy path. Fascinating signs of geological changes all around - the canyon itself as well as the strata displayed in surrounding rocks.
Despite my visit coinciding with a cold snap, with low cloud and constant rain, this experience was wonderful and I felt reluctant to leave.
Don't miss it!

“Hint: Skip Johnston for Marble”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

If you can only visit Johnston Canyon in Alberta or go just over into BC to Marble Canyon - choose Marble Canyon. (Of course, do both if you can.) Marble Canyon is amazing and far less crowded with camera- touting tourists. It is incredibly pretty and the water's color is wonderful. It is a short walk and easy. The wildflowers are grand. Lots of superlatives here, but we loved it and when we were there, there was not a tour nus in sight.

“Great camping spot”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Beautiful setting, campground is great, had no problem finding a spot for three nights and you don't have to have a spot too close to your neighbors. No showers but there are pit toilets and drinking water pumps.
When we were there, wasps were all over the place but aside from that, the lake is cool and clear and overall a great out of the way place to visit!
