We had lunch here and it was a good experience. The Russian food in particular was excellent and the varenyky were amazing - freshly made, doughy, delicious. The borscht is excellent and we often purchase it here to take to the cottage.

Nothing will replace the Yale Hotel borscht, which burnt down in 1993. Except for making it yourself, which isn't really on unless you take a vacation day from work, send your kids away, and spend a full day in the kitchen. So although it is expensive ($12.50 per litre to go), the price reflects the time it takes to make this amazing meal.

Borscht bowl is always busy, which is a good sign. They must go through a ton of butter and cream in making their delicious Doukhhobor food, but we just come for the star of the show, the borscht. And it's good, served at the right temperature with a slab of the requisite white bread and butter. (Of course it comes with whole wheat too, but why ruin the experience). So eat your soup, think about turning vegetarian because it's so good, buy several take out containers and freeze them for later. Then repeat every summer.

I've been craving Douhkabour food ever since the hotel burned down. I'd heard good things about the Borscht Bowl so we thought we'd try it this year. The peorgies were good but very doughy and not much filling. But the service was good and it satisfied my craving. Only thing is that it's not very stroller friendly

Had lunch at the Borscht Bowl today. Everything was great. Had a bowl of borscht and thick piece of bread. Tried the Voreniky which I haven't had for years. It was all wonderful and would definitely go back. Service was great and restaurant was very clean. Prices were very reasonable.

This is a great little old style restaurant. Everything is made from scratch so can take awhile but worth the wait. The best Russian food in town, and lots of mainstream choices too. My favorite is the cheese pyrahi ( a baked cottage cheese filled dumpling with sour cream). The desserts are all homemade and delicious. It's not open for dinner but a great choice for lunch.
