The Borscht Bowl is a wonderful unpretentious restaurant in Grand Forks (where I live), just off the highway on Market Ave. It has consistently good home-cooked meals at a fair price - a few dollars more than fast food but worth it. A lot of the local Doukhobors and other locals eat there so you know the Russian food is genuine, well made and not overpriced. Good meatless options as Doukhobors are traditionally vegetarian. The service is efficient and friendly and the restaurant has a homey, warm atmosphere. You could say it is substance over style, except the style is a large part of its charm. Have only been there during daytime, may only have daytime hours. If you want fast food, then go for fast food but if you want delicious food and small town charm try the Borscht Bowl.
