We had rooms 11 and 12 for three and four nights this past July long weekend and we were so impressed with the cleanliness and rates at Johnny's Motel. I have stayed at many a small-town motel in B.C. and most times you get what you pay for: adequately clean and usually renovations that are at least twenty years old. Johnny's was a pleasant surprise for us all: the location along the river and across the bridge from downtown allowed us some peace and quiet in the evening shaded by the trees and yet proximity to downtown over the bridge meant shops and restaurants were close if we needed them. The two rooms were furnished in a simple and functional style with clean bedding and towels, functional and tidy bathrooms, and perfect little kitchens. Our neighbours each night were usually middle-aged biker groups who were always quiet enough and I suspect that if they weren't the management would have assisted us with following courtesy quiet hours at night. I usually avoid motels and hotels if I can find a quiet bed and breakfast only because in the summer most hotels have noisy guests and it's hard to sleep - but Johnny's seemed to attract the "right" crowd! The pool was clean and had towels and toys for the kids. The owners were kind and laid-back and yet prompt with service and attention to detail as needed. I don't know if all suites were as up-to-date and clean as 11 and 12, but when I'm back in town I'll be returning here without hesitation. Finally: the price can't be beat for the value of the accommodation. Well done, Johnny's!

Room Tip: 11 and 12 are up-to-date and centrally located with carports - pick one of them!

Thankyou for your comments, its great to hear you enjoyed your stay. We have been here for eight years and have gone all the way through renovating each of the rooms to ensure guest satisfaction. This year we completed a rebuild on the final 2 units, but dont worry we wont stop there , we just start again at the begining to ensure our rooms are always modern and fresh.

I often stay in predicable chain expensive motels, but to make a long story short, after a very long drive day, I found myself checking into Johnny's Motel for just one night/ What a nice surprise all the way around. What makes this little motel so special? Why did I enjoy my one day here so much? I concluded it is all about pride of ownership and the impressive attention to detail the owners invest in each well appointed room. Everything, from the lovely fresh flower baskets blooming in the windows, to the extra dishes placed in the microwave, have been carefully put there to increase the traveler's comfort. This kind of loving care cannot exist at the big chain hotels.

Room Tip: It looked to me like all the rooms have a back door facing the river, so I'd recommend all rooms...

Johnny's Motel is cheap, clean, well located and very friendly. The wifi worked very well, and there was a nice balcony area outside the room. We did not try the pool but it appeared nicely set up for kids. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your comments. Clive constantly updates the wifi to make sure the system is compatible with all the latest technology , so he will be pleased to hear you appreciated it. Yes we do keep our prices as competitive as possible, thats the nice thing about not being part of a chain. Come back soon.

I stayed at Johnny's during a solo bicycle trip across BC. It was much nicer than most of the other more expensive motels I used. It's a great value for the price, but the best thing about it is that you feel like you are at home in your own back yard. It's very pleasant to be by river on a quiet summer night. The room itself was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Front desk service was excellent. I like everything about it.

Pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We do like our guests to feel relaxed and at home, and the river setting is what made us fall in love with Johnnys in the first place. Hope to see you back soon.

Even though we only spent one night at Johnny's Motel while on a road trip, the charming Clive and his lovely wife, Nicky, bent over backwards to accommodate my special request when I booked our room. I have an allergy to scented products like Bounce fabric softener and Febreeze spray and they went out of their way to provide a "scent-free" room, which was also spacious and clean and lovely. Ice for our cooler, a map of the area, directions to our destination, advice on good restaurants...we loved all their helpful advice. It is reassuring to know that we will have such a great place to stay the next time we travel in the Grand Forks area. And the price was good too!

Thanks for your comments, always pleased to oblige. Its amazing how many people have alergies, and thats why we prefer the quilted blankets to duvets, as we can have them freshly laundered for each guest.

We stayed at Johnny's for the first time on our first motorcycle trip this year (in May). We will definitely stay at Johnny's again! The owner was very accommodating, helpful and personable. The rooms are large and clean; and you can really tell that there is pride in ownership of this small hotel. There's a lovely green space at the back by the river with picnic tables and BBQ's for guests. Also has free WiFi. As a motorcycle rider, the fact there are rooms with a car port is a bonus and we're told that a bike washing station is set up in the summer -- now, where do you ever see that! After a long ride, it's an easy walk to a restaurant across the way or into town. Oh ya -- and a great price.

Room Tip: Some, not all, rooms have a covered car port.

We dont have any issues about motorcyclists staying, you guys are always great, and we do our best to make your stay pleasant. I know many of the guys like to wash and polish, and it really doesnt take alot to find a hose and some cleaning rags. We are handy for town, and after a long ride you can walk to the bars and restaurants, and cool down in the river or pool. Hope to catch you next time.

Johnny's is our favorite motel in southern BC. We travel every summer by motorbike and they are so accommodating. The barbeques available out back by the river is a great way to end the day! We will plan our trip accordingly so we can spend at least a couple of nights at Johnny's.

Room Tip: We love the kitchenette units as love to cook our own meals when we can!
