“A mystical walk in the woods”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Huge trees dripping with moss, hanging over the trail to the narrows. Absolute silence and great forest beauty. People walk the 4 km trail to get to the viewpoint for the extreme kayaker a surf the big wave at the ideal tide, which is fascinating, but the trail is a fine walk anytime of day.

“wear comfy shoes”

Wow .. beautiful trails and fantastic kayakers on the skookumchuck rapids. I have never seen anything like it. Breathtaking and definitely worth the 4 km trek in to view it. Take water to drink as there is nothing along the trail ...

“Morning Hike”

Great hike, scenic views. Suggest you get in early before the crowds arrive. We were heading back out just at peak flow times.

“get the tide list from sechelt VIC website and go at an +XL tide”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

The walk in is part of the attraction - a lovely mossy forest on the way in - we didn't time it exactly but it was a hot day when we went so we were walking only at a moderate pace and I guess it took about 45 mins or so. If you want to see the high tide waves, go the the path on your right (there will be a sign post about 30 mins into the walk)

Wear something sturdy on your feet - we had hiking boots on, and whilst these are not necessary for the hike or even really for once you get to the rocks - they did provide great grip, as the rocks were wet and slippery, we saw people slip and slide and one poor lady broke her leg after slipping on the rocks.
Anyway on a more positive note, at the high tide there were loads of guys on the little kayaks - it was a lot of fun watching them - they certainly have some skill and like their adrenaline.
There is a public toilet at the entrance at the carpark and one about 10 mins from the high tide viewing spot.
