“Unique Experience in the Mountains”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

Location: 20 km north of Blue River, BC and about 1/2 km east of HWY 5 you will find this quaint, rustic retreat. It is located by a river and at the base of multiple trails for ski-dooing or quadding. There is a railway track close by so be aware of the sound of trains throughout the night.
Cabin: My husband and I stayed in the Hunter's Cabin and absolutely LOVED the experience. It is a rustic one room cabin with a double bed, table and two chairs, 3 burner stove, coffee maker, sink, and bar fridge. My great uncle was a guide for hunters and had a similar 'cabin' that he used when hunting and trapping. If you are looking for fluffy pillows and a chocolate on the pillow, this is not a place for you. This cabin is 'rustic' but quaint. Those with an adventurous spirit will appreciate these accommodations. And yes... there is a trek to the outdoor toilet. If you want a less rugged cabin, there are other options available with in-cabin washrooms.
Reception: Micky was very warm and inviting upon our arrival. Not only was her welcome appreciated but the friendly dogs, cat and free range chickens added to the hominess of the 'wilderness retreat'.
Parking: The parking is free for all guests.
Internet: There is free wifi for guests to the property.
Overall: My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our night at the "Bone Creek Wilderness Retreat". We 'gave blood' unwillingly to the copious amounts of mosquitos but that was par for the course for this type of rustic location. If you are up for the adventure, check out this unique experience in the mountains.

We have stayed here twice in the summer, to ride our quads on the old logging roads up the mountains. Great trails and spectacular views. Wildlife, waterfalls and mountain streams are in abundance. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect and memorable. The cabins are very clean, well stocked and comfortable. As a special treat Michelle and Mark can whip up some fantastic food for you during your stay!

This is one of my family's favorite vacation spots. We love going to Bone creek wilderness retreat! Skidooing up the mountain's, right from the cabin door is by far a MUCH loved thing. We enjoy hiking around the bushes, there is so much beauty right in their back yard. The cabins are fantastic, very spacious, and you can tell they take pride in their resort. Waking up to the picture perfect mountain right in your window, is breathtaking. Its much MUCH better than a tourist town, or a name brand hotel. Its very down to earth out there, and very peaceful. We have been there spring, summer, fall and winter. Every season at bone creek is fantastic! My children love playing outside here, there is so much nature and wildlife to explore. The owners are wonderful hosts, and a pleasure to do business with! Don't forget to write in the journal they have in each cabin about your experience!

Room Tip: Sledders Cabin is very spacious and a family favorite!

Have taken our family to Bone Creek Wilderness Retreat during both the Summer and Winter seasons many times. Had a fantastic time on all occasions. This retreat is situated right on its own private property at the base of a mountain. You have the mountains all around you and the river right beside you, it's a gorgeous place to visit. Amazing trails right up the mountain. We have taken both dirt bikes, and snow machines all around the trails there. Can quad, bike, or sled right from the property, no need to worry about loading and moving your vehicle to transport your fun toys. It's awesome! A great place to pack a picnic and hike the trails or sit by the river. The hosts make you feel right at home, and are super accommodating. They have RV camping (full hook ups) and cabins for rent, something for everyone. It's just a short drive into town to pick up any needed supplies. We will definitely be visiting this place again and again for years to come, we love it there. Highly recommend Bone Creek Wilderness Retreat.

Room Tip: The cabins are really great, amazing mountain views, everything you need is right there. Full kitche...

I have been to Bone Creek Wilderness Retreat in both summer and winter. In the summer the gardens are just beautiful and full of colour, and I love watching the chickens play around in the large yard underneath the mountains! Bears are never a worry (although they are around) as the big friendly dogs make sure you are safe while exploring and adventuring. In the winter there is so much snow! Exciting places to snowmobile, snowshoe and even a sled-boarding area not far down the road. The cabins are really comfortable and clean, and the hosts are wonderful and welcoming.
