What a lovely place! The buildings and grounds are really something special. We stayed here on our way to do the River Safari (awesome!). We had a luxury king room in the eagles nest cabin. The cabin is beautiful. Our room featured double sinks with granite counters, a jacuzzi tub, steam shower, and separate toilet. There was a huge closet, suited to winter sport gear, complete with a safe. It is a short walk to the public beach at Eleanor Lake, which featured a sand beach, change house, ANC floating docks with a water slide. The water Lillies were in bloom, and a loon was catching his dinner nearby. We also dined at the hotel restaurant across the highway. The food was very good.
This hotel was very reasonable priced, we would come back again.

We stayed in large 3 bedroom cottage. 2 young kids,2 adults. Beautiful cabin with a view of the back of a building (unfortunate). There were only 2 BBQs for the entire resort. $30. For first night $10 for each additional night to rent. They were already rented out during our stay. I would recommend getting more BBQs or having a BBQ area monitored by resort. Kitchen lacked a couple essentials like scissors, cooking sheet (needed if no BBQ) . Lake/beach area were incredible for kids. Resort should invest in a canoe or paddle boat-. We would have rented. There looks to be an amazing gym which was closed for summer use. There is a volley ball court and horse shoes.
Trains are very loud and come frequently tooting horn at 6am. We eventually got use to it. Restaurant across street had incredible food. We highly recommend River safari about 3km away. Overall ok.

I am an addict! I have chased powder snow for fifteen plus years and the picture hanging in my tv room is after a 30" dump, in the Monashees! The chalets are superb and if the A Star picking you up out front of the private chalet, doesn't put a smile on your face, forget it! I was very fortunate to visit six times and they are all great trips. The food, service is superb and the beers are good and cold. The adrenalin junkies home and start saving your money now!

I apologize for not submitting this sooner but as we are preparing for this year's ski season, I would be remiss if I did not report on our experience at MWHS at the beginning of the year. We organized a group of 3 families and friends (14 in total) to spend five nights at MWHS. Only 4 members of the party had previous heli-skiing experience. The staff at MWHS were extremely accommodating and helpful. They organized cabins to accommodate the various sleeping arrangements and noted various diet restrictions…including celiac. The cabin rooms are rustic yet comfortable. During the week, everyone spent most of the time socializing in the main lodge where they offered a wide selection of hors d'oeuvres and snacks apres skiing and a fabulous dinner for the entire group in the evening. A full breakfast is also served in the main lodge in the morning. Hot lunches are provided for on the mountain in order to maximize the skiing experience. Dureing the lunch break on the mountain, all of the groups met up so it was great chance for the Moms to check in on the kids skiing in other groups. As mentioned, the meals are fantastic and even the hot lunches on the mountain accommodated all food restrictions. Make sure you let the staff know of any food preferences, they handle individual needs very well. The guides were very supportive of the newbies as we had a range of abilities in our group. The head guide, Barry, made sure that everyone had a great time. All adjustments to equipment and groupings were handled to everyone’s satisfaction. Barry and Jordan took the advanced skiers and they had one epic run after another. Scott and Brodie were All Stars!! They took the rookie ladies and by the end of the trip, Scott and Brodie had them dialed in…the ladies loved it!! This is good news for me because it means we are coming back. Everyone at MWHS (especially the guides!) understand the importance and value of good customer service…it was an incredible family vacation!! One cautionary note, drive safe and take your time as you make your way to Blue River, the highway is well maintained but black ice can be a problem during the winter months.

After reading several reviews and finding out that winter guest pay thousands of dollars to visit here I expected first class top notch accommodations. This was not the case for my recent visit. There must be a great deal of variations in quality of accommodations from one cabin to the next and here's why. At check in during our overnight stay in early September, my wife and I were put in a cabin very near the front office. As it was a very warm day and I was surprised to find there was no air conditioning in the cabin . Some reviews talk about cabins having a/c but obviously not all. Due to the heat it would be necessary to open the windows to cool the cabin. For us this was not possible as one window was broken and would not stay open and the other had no screen. Also this cabin was very worn and furniture was battered, tables scratched and gouged, very dark and dreary. I spoke with Lyndsy at the front desk who was very understanding and moved us to a much nicer cabin, but still not one equipped like those described in other reviews. This cabin was larger and cleaner, much less worn but not luxurious . The bed was rock hard. My wife tuffed it out but I spent the night on the sofa which was much more comfortable than the bed. Again there was no a/c so the unit was hot. Opening the windows exposed us to the highway and train noise that continued all night. There are limited restaurant choices in this area. The hotel resturant was closed. The nicer resturant across the highway that gets good reviews......closed on Fridays and Saturdays ??? The grill just south of hotel was the only option and although not fancy did prepare a decent meal for dinner and breakfast. Over all I think I would leave this hotel to the winter guest who are more focused on skiing. My advice would be to route your trip so as to avoid staying overnight along this stretch of road. Staying in Kamloops, valemount or Jasper might be a better choice

We stayed 2 nights in one of the spacious luxury chalets. The beds were extremely comfortable and we were not bothered by the noise of the trains or the highway. We enjoyed the walk to the lake and the more adventurous went swimming. The chalet was well equipped though the kitchen was missing a cutting board. The first day we were there the weather was beautiful and it would have been nice to have been able to sit outside. We spent the evenings in front of the fire watching DVDs we had brought on the huge flat screen tv.

Room Tip: The extra money for the luxury chalet was well worth the cost.

When we drove up to our chalet, my initial thought was that it was stunning. Then we opened the door and saw the open kitchen and sitting area in front of the full stone fireplace and thought "you've got to be kidding". As we found the double king beds and fell into them (incredibly comfortable) it was affirming that we'd had a great family vacation to the bc island; but to end with such a beautiful location in such a fabulous chalet - it couldn't have been better.

The location is perfect between Edmonton and nanaimo - almost exactly half way.
The accommodations are brilliant for a mountainous lodge and chalet ... For the people that have not liked this spot - are you kidding?? Best to stay in the concrete jungle and the four seasons.... This place was breathe-taking. Our family spent a couple hours after breakfast taking in the lake, walking and fishing and swimming- it was an absolute blast.
The staff were very friendly, the main lodge was warm and inviting ... Could almost manage living in blue river if it was at that chalet....

Very memorable, great value for the money, stunning locale and views and experiences.... One if not the highlights of our vacation. I would highly recommend this place for wary travellers.
