Believe it or not, a small town of Sherwood Park actually have a good Japanese restaurant. We are from neighbouring city of Edmonton and we have our share of many Japanese restaurants but this one is quite good. Its located in a new commercial developed area of Sherwood Park and your GPS may not find it so look it up on Google Maps. From the outside, there are two sections to this restaurant: Take out which has a separate section/door and the main restaurant featuring a patio! Wow! Fusion.
As you approach the restaurant, you are greeted with a bridge wooden crossing a small stream with rocks as their water feature which is adding to the overall theme the restaurant is trying to achieve. The front double doors are also designed to reflect this theme as well. Upon entering the foyer, you are greeted with stone Japanese statues, hostess stand and more water features and Japanese themed decorations which really completed the look and feel that you are in a Japanese establishment. Even the washroom doors are reflective of this theme.
The restaurant is quite large and can accommodate a lot of guests with VIP sections and general seating. It does not feel like a big hall as the screens divided the dining area. Hostess, wait staff and bus helpers are very friendly and efficient. This place seems family friendly too. We were pleasantly greeted by our waiter and he brought us our menus and water to start. We ordered the salmon sashimi, various rolls and the rice bowl. All tasted great and fresh which is quite good. The salmon sashimi was thick cut and does not taste fishy at all. They do offer a AYCE buffet on Sunday brunches only however. Otherwise, there is good variety and quite reasonable pricing for this Japanese restaurant considering the look, feel and wait staff service. Definitely should come for a visit and try it out. It was worth a second visit.
