“Amazing steak under new management”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

I work oil and gas, we have a facility near by. I used to stop in on occasion for mediocre food (previous cooks) when the need arised, but now I make it a point to stop by! Friendly staff and the food is amazing. I met the new manager after wanting to express my compliments to the chef - turns out they handle their beef in house. Anyway, check it out. You won't be dissapointed.

i wanted to stay in a unique setting out of rocky mountain house instead of the usual super 8's in town. this place is about 15kms out of town on a ranch. we had a cabin with no kitchen at a great price. it looked brand new inside and the decor was very very cute. a couch, a tv, a nice bed, a beautiful bathroom. we weren't there long enough to really enjoy the surroundings much, but it'd be a great spot to use as home base for hiking or local parks. CAUTION: to eat they do have a restaurant on the premises, but our food was not really good. i had nachos which were ok and my husband had a burger which was not good. the "homemade pie" was quite terrible even if homemade. we would not eat there again or at least not without recommendations from others of what to order. it was a very busy place where lots of local folks were eating but i'd get a cabin with a kitchen and bring groceries or go to town to eat next time. the cabin though gets a huge thumbs up - so cute!

The cabins are delightful. The decor has been thought out. Bedding matches the curtains, even a cute double horse shoe toilet paper holder.
That is about where the ambiance ends.

While checking in, my husband asked the woman at the store for the password for their "unlimited wireless internet" which was supposed to be included. She was very rude and begrudging.

Then when we finally did try to log on we could only hook up to their router, but the router to internet was "unavailable". We were informed that the internet connection would resume in the next month...... Really!?!

A note was stapled to our door stating,
"Our WIFI system does not allow enough capacity to stream movies and games. We are maxed out for the month and will be charged hugely for the extra"

But there was no discount offered for the lack of service for those of us that could not access our mail, or communications.

The bedspread was absolutely beautiful, but the bed itself provided a horrible sleep!

Yes, they have bbq pits, but you need to buy firewood from the store.... or scrounge around in the trees for some.

There is phones advertized in each unit. This is definitely not true. There was NO phone.

The optional fireplace in our unit was electric - but - Non Functional. Basically a pretty piece of furniture.

The pots/pans in our room had been over heated so bad that only 1-2" actually touched the 5" burner. Non of the mismatched pots have any lids. All plates and cutlery are mismatched.

There is a sign above the sink that states, "Please ensure all dishes are washed and put away before you check out. A $25 charge will be applied to your bill for any unwashed dishes."
This is all well and fine.
But, it would be nice if they double checked to see if the dishes and pans in the cupboards were actually washed!
I ended up pulling out the 5 plates, 4 bowls and 1 saucer.. along with the frying pans and washed them all before using them. After looking in the cutlery drawer I dumped all the silverware along with the tray into the sink and washed them all before use. And of course, after use as well. I didn't check the cups or glasses as we brought our own.

There is no room service. Maybe that was extra?

There is a general store with alot of stuff in it. But we decided to save some money and drove the short 8 km into town to pick up what we needed.

Everywhere you look there is a sign of how much extra you will be charged for whatever reason. This is after paying $150+ a night!

The Grandview Stage Resort is about 8 miles outside of Rocky Mountain house. If you are wanting to be out in the forest area, then this might be a good choice. We'd read at least one other review that said the bed linens were "thread bare" but Boy! was that an understatement ... ours were literally shredded! And we'd arrived on a Thursday night and though the cafe was supposed to be open till 9pm, they closed at 8pm that night because they were slow. And since there are no coffee makers in the rooms, we couldn't even get a cup of coffee that night. * miles back top town seemed like a long way to go. The convenience store was open though for snacks or whatnot and cold drinks, alcohol included, but nothing warm was available.

The rooms were rustic and cute, large and very cabin like, suitable for hikers, campers, trail riders etc. We rented two rooms and the beds in both rooms were exceptionally noisy and creaky - and I mean LOUD!. And the rooms/cabins that were were rented were at the end of a fairly long boardwalk, quite a long way to haul suitcases and stuff, but the other rooms/cabins had close parking and access - just ours' were way out there. Paper towel in the bathroom for drying your hands, only 2 linen towels for bath. We arrived on a cool and rainy night so needed to turn on the furnace to heat up the place - this worked fast and excellent! In the morning the cafe was busy; one lady serving and cooking - the wait was a bit long but the service was pleasant and friendly.

Wow, thought we'd gotten all our linens changed out. New cabin cleaning person, issue corrected. Re: restaurant hours, some nights can be very slow, our cook was closing early at times. This also rectified. Glad you enjoyed the positive aspects of our family resort.

The cabins where amazing, we used 5 cabins and the RV spot, full hookups was awesome. Dell was a great guy and very accommodating. The path to Cow Lake was not accessible and you had to trailer to go quading which we understood that we could quad right from there. All in all we had an excellent stay and everything was well kept and maintained. I would definitely recommend Grandview and stay again.

The description of the accomodation and the reality are totally different. It is an old worn out facility that has not been kept up. Bed linens and blankets are threadbare. I have found better kitchen appliances at a garage sale. Mismatched plates and cutlery. I have thrown away better barbecues and to think we were charged a premum for its use. When we checked out we were informed that we had to pay an additonal $12.00 per person per night. The initial charge was bad enough nut that was over the top.

This review was substantially inaccurate. Our cabins are not old and run down, they were built in 2002 and are very well maintained. Sorry you didn't like your barbecue, we have purchased new ones since. Our linens have likewise been replaced. However, our price is very competitive with the competition in Rocky, who do not offer BBQ's, firepits, picnic tables, quiet decks onto manicured lawns and treed areas, and generally no kitchenettes. You are correct that additional adults are charged extra, same as any other hotel, but the upcharge is $15, not $12. You are, however, correct about one thing...you won't be staying here again.

It's been our experience that 99% of our customers are wonderful folks that love their stay at Grandview Stage. They don't seem to write reviews and we don't ask them to, we just enjoy their company on their many return visits. The other 1% seem to arrive with an attitude, and these folks sometimes do write reviews. We'll stick with the 99% that love us here at GVS.

Although their claim that this is "luxury accommodation" is a bit elevated, the cabin was clean and spacious. The furniture and bedding was worn. The grounds were well maintained, with a nice lawn area with fire pits. The best part was watching the locals stop in for gas, groceries, etc. The food in the restaurant was good, with enourmous servings.
