Stayed at this Best Western for work a few times now and I remain quite impressed. The hotel is very nice on the inside; rooms are modern and clean. Good buffet breakfast in the morning and a great restaurant to eat at in the evening. The service at the front desk is hit or miss but all in all, this is the best place to stay in High Level. A fairly large waterpark is a nice amenity if you are bringing little ones.

One thing to note is the railway tracks are right behind the hotel so if you are in a room on that side, you will hear the trains go through and I have been woken up at 1am, 4:30am, 12am... Not sure why they feel the need to blast their horn 1000 times on the way through.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from the highway are exposed to the railway tracks right behind the hotel.

During a rainy Canada Long Weekend in Yellowknife, my family and I decided to drive out of town and booked at this hotel because of the water park facilities. The stay was excellent, there was no flaw at all. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was perfect, the swimming facilities were exactly what we were expecting, and the breakfast buffet was terrific. We have stayed at a few placed in High Level due to driving between Yellowknife and Edmonton, but Best Western Mirage will be our one and only stop for now on.

Room Tip: East side rooms are quieter - until a train comes in, and they get the great morning light.

On the outside, this hotel looks good. The rooms are spacious and bed are comfortable. The rug is questionable, both in age and level of cleanliness. When I booked weeks ago, I placed a note in the special requests section (online) that I needed first floor access due to the requirement of loading/unloading over 700 pounds of luggage and effects. After a long drive, I finally arrived at the hotel. The front desk person read, (for the first time) my note and informed me that there were no rooms REMAINING at THAT TIME that met my needs. After getting into a lengthy conversation about booking this request weeks ago, it was discovered that NO ATTENTION was paid to the customer list/needs/requests when room assignment was made in the morning. Like darts at a board, rooms were assigned without due regard for client requirements. (poor management)! Secondly, the only thing the girl could do for us was to offer an apology. No restitution of any kind was offered, or made, but it was clearly stated that she was sorry...THEN, after understanding that I had to make several trips with trolleys AND by stairs, she assigned me the LAST room in the long hallway, furthest from the elevator, hotel lobby, etc... Not exaggerating, I strolled past 51 rooms before arriving at the last room in the building...and had to do so several times, back and forth. After a long day's drive, the last thing I wanted to do was to walk 50 yards each way, 4 times and then two laps of the stairs. Can't wait to reverse the process on checkout! (customer service).

I am very sorry that your request for a ground floor room during your stay with us was not able to be accommodated. As you know this summer our area has seen one of the worst wild fire seasons in history and with this in play almost all hotels of worth in the High Level area have been running at 100 percent occupancy for the entire month of July and now the same is proving itself for August.

Often in cases where you make a request for something special at time of booking, come time of arrival those requests may not be able to be fulfilled for various reasons. This particular trip we were in an oversold situation due to the people staying at the hotel involved with the fire fighting efforts had to extend their stays as the rain in the forecast never happened. During that time we actually had to move people who had reservations with us to another property in town.

With 2 communities evacuated into High Level for 2 weeks and the sheer number of emergency personnel in town needing accommodations and meals it was the most trying time for the entire community and we pulled together until the fires were under control and the evacuees were allowed to go home.

I am sorry for the long winded explanation of why your request was not met and we hope that if you try us again when travelling through the area we will hopefully be able to accommodate all requests you may have this time.

Thanks.

Great Best Western! Stopped here on our way down to Calgary. Rooms were modern, clean, and the beds were super comfortable. Staff was friendly on check in and check out. Big Plus was the complimentary hot-cold buffet offered.

Unfortunately the Water Park was closed when we arrived so I can't comment on that. Maybe next time!

Price for 2 beds was a bit steep even with the CAA discount but all in all I would stay here again.

Rooms are reasonably clean. I think the Days Inn rooms compares better for cleanliness. The pool area is why we choose this hotel - kids love it! I admit, it's a tonne of fun after a day of driving.

Staff are smiling and willing to help.

The second hand smoke in the hallways bothered me quite a bit... but once inside the room it was not noticeable.

The breakfast is as advertised - quite a selection and all inclusive.

My family and I have stayed in a lot of hotels all across Ontario, BC and Alberta and this is by far our favorite. In fact, we go to High Level every month while my husband is on business for a chance to get away and enjoy the facilities. The waterpark beats any rec centre we have been to because it is both awsome and yet private. The restaurant is casual but offers a great menu. Most of all, out of our 8 consecutive stays, we have always recieved the most friendly and helpful service that it feels more like home than away. The rooms are nice, clean and modern with all amenities expected while on business or vacation. To top it off, they provide a great comlimentary hot breakfast buffet complete with Starbucks coffee. Kudos to Mark, Mark, JJ and all the staff for consistantly delivering an exceptional hotel experience.

Room Tip: We always request the first floor (outdoor access to vehicle) on the Highway side (quieter) near the...

Hello Burton Family.

Thanks so much for the accolades. We try our best to make it a home away from home for the family as I know that the amount you travel for work can be stressfull. We are proud of our oasis in High Level and we are always pleased to see the family return.

See you again next month.
