Charlies is an old name and location in Minot. Charles Demakis opened it in the 1950s and it has gone through several owners and personalities over the years. This transformation is my favorite after the first edition. It is located on Main Street and is a perfect place for lunch. The new owners came to Minot from Korea to run a restaurant and they are doing a wonderful job. This place feels like home to me. I grew up in Minot and return from time to time and always drop in to see how the place tastes and feels. I love this edition of the restaurant. It is sparkling clean and the walls have pictures that take me back to my sand lot days and the Minot Mallards. Drop in for dinner or lunch. You will enjoy the warm charm of the owners. I chuckled at one review that thought the coffee was weak. I have lived in Paris and Rome and am addicted to the powerful brews of those places... but, the local taste would not support that kind of rich, bracing brew. I am sure that the coffee brewer is bending to local taste.
