Sunny Day is a new group of hotels here at the best part of Gold Sand area. I have been here 35 years ago, of course everything changed. The hotel is OK, good amenities, rich breakfast, excellent seefood, fish kitchen, full offer of balneological therapies.

I have now stayed in this picturesque and tranquil hotel twice and enjoyed it so much for its quietness and easy access to St Constantine by the resort train which terminated close to the entrance of the hotel.
Last year I returned to find that Sunny day had become sunny Day Resorts
now a complex with guards in boxes on the entrances to the complex which now has five hotels of different qualities
There is no longer the resort bus even to the entrances of the enlarged complex resort
The bus is turned round well before the hotel and taxis which are well over priced have replaced them and obviously owned by sunny day resorts.
I am given to understand that the hotel and land were purchased by a russian consortium and developed
The Palace Hotel used to be offered as a package by Balkan Holidays but this is no longer the case and has to be booked with a Bulgarian company online.
The hotel is still wonderful taking one back to the glory days of eastern Europe but the food quality and service in the restaurants are not up to 5 star standard .The breakfast choice is good.
You won't find any British tourists only charming Russian and Germans who are lovely and very friendly.as are the staff

If you don't mind going through Check Point Charlie to reach real Bulgarian civilization then I thoroughly recommend this Hotel,I on the other hand will be staying up the road in the real part of the resort at the Azalea Hotel which also has a spa and mineral natural spring swimming pool is all inclusive at the same price as the Palace which is Bed and Breakfast and only a short walk from the Resort Bus .

Room Tip: Try it for a week and book with Sea Views for the extra.

We have been at the hotel for 5 nights together with my wife and my youngest daughter. The room was very clean and sunny, looking to the sea and to the park simultaneously. The beach is one step away from the hotel and the park. Great place to visit and relax!

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel september 2011.When we arrived it seemed the whole coach was staying at this hotel taken over an hour and a half to get booked in and be shown our room we was located at the back of the hotel so the view was a croft with some cars on it and the side of the hotel next door the bathroom window was over looked by the block next to ours and the could see into our bathroom the window was far to high for me to reach and did not have a blind on it to close so anybody looking from the room in the next block could see us in our bathroom not very private id say .We had a telivision which we could not see because it was all snowy and jumped all the time when we asked for it to be changed we was told it was a signal problem so we gave up .Breakfast was the same every day and was always cold they did not seem to cater alot for english alot of russians and germans stay at his hotel the toaster well 1 toaster for the whole hotel was shocking it was put your bread in one end and it came out the other but you had to do this at least 2/3 times for it to toast and then you would get people queing behind you waiting for toast and moaning not good first thing in the morning .The pool was freezing cold so only used it the once in the two weeks we was there alot of the russians seem to take over the pool jumping in and messing about they didn't seem to care about anybody else so we used to go out most of the day down to the beach or hope on the bus to Nessebar which is beautiful a must if your in Bulgaria a bus stops just near the hotel and it's only 1 lev which is fab takes you rite into nessebar and it's beautiful by night see all the lights over the harbour oh and great for fishing there is a small tackle shop on the main road in nessebar good for fishing tackle and bates. All in all the hotel was not our cup of tea should i say im sure therse better ones Bulgaria is cheap but thought the sun loungers on the beach expensive at 5lev each and 5lev for the brolly. If we return to Bulgaria one day we won't be going back to Sunny Day.Hope this review helps .

Last year we spend few days on a business trip at Palace hotel, Sunny day. I was surprised by the service, location and kind personel. it is great place for relaxing afternoon after a tuff day - surrounded by forest, situated on the beach, with comfortable spa center and heated swimming pools. It is only at 8km away from Varna but it's better tobook there instead of sleeping in the nozy, durty city center. I walked up in the morning with teh songs of teh birds and the waves .... and teh remarcable sunrise

We were attracted to the Palace Hotel by the 5 star rating and its promise of relaxation. How wrong. Arrived at the hotel around 3am on a Sunday morning. Our room was vibrating to the sound of disco music from the wedding below. We were informed by reception that this was unusual and should not happen again. It did the next night and every weekend we were there.
The hotel looks magnificent. The cocktail and lobby bar was wonderful with great staff. Our room was very well maintaind by the cleaners. However it all went down hill with the buffet restaurant. The food was awful (instant mashed potatoe anyone) with the staff left directionless. Tables were not relaid and one had to scramble for a table, cutlery and a drink. It did not help that the restaurant roof leaked during the two weeks, with strategically based pot plants and buckets catching the water. It was only after someone did fall that the hotel decided to cordon the area off. The management appeared indifferent to the situation. 5 star it was not and we would never return.
It was a very disappointing experience and it was only another nice couple who kept us sane during the second week.

  • Liked — The cocktail bar
  • Disliked — The hotel restaurant and noise from weddings
