It's very nice and every time i felt very good. It's wel known that in Bulgaria all hotels don't have all the stars they say and either Admiral but it's a warm place, with nice people and every time i've been there the bulgarian were very ok! Sea view & park view rooms are the best (park view rooms are larger most of them and you can also see the sea). The food was ok (i ate only at breakfast because at lunch or dinner i was out) and a lot but i didn't like that the people from my country( shame on me but it's true! they think that you must take advantage of what is for free) filled their plates, so the restaurant staff must replace the food on every 15 minutes, and there were abandoned full plates on tables of clients, it's not normal!
About room amenities, i had everything and if i needed something i asked for it and it was ok!
I olso like the oriental club from the hotel and the Pr. Club it's a hot spot

We were looking for a nice quiet place for a fun family vacation and we found it.

The Admiral is one of the only hotels in Golden Sands that is open all year. We were there at the end of November and we basically had the entire place to ourselves. There were a handful of guests over the weekend, but by Sunday evening we had exclusive use of the pool and restaurant. Being the type that avoids crowds, this is exactly what we wanted.

Our kids are 8, 6, and 4, so a hotel with a nice pool is a must. The pool at the Admiral was great. The water was warm enough (which is not always a sure thing) and we had a lot of fun. They are trying for a relaxing spa atmosphere, and without kids it certainly would have been that. I would give the pool 4 stars out of 5 only because the hot tub is kinda small and you have to pay a small fee for use of the sauna and other spa facilities.

The rooms were great. We had connecting rooms - one faced the sea and one faced another hotel. Be sure to ask for a sea view. Our room didn't have much for seating.

The restaurant was very nice. We had three breakfasts and 2 dinners there. I was quite pleased with the service.

Overall I would give the facilities a solid 4 stars. Being in Eastern Europe, you never quite know what you will get, and perhaps if the place was crowded things might be different, but we were quite satisfied.

I would also give the service a solid 4 stars. Most of the staff went out of their way to be helpful. (Also, my experience was that most hotel staff, and restaurant/retail staff in Varna spoke English very well. This was a relief.)

The resort is located about 20 min drive from the city of Varna, a medium size town on the coast. If you have a day to spare, there are a few local museums to visit and a large park on the hill on the coast. Its old trees provide plenty of shade for a nice walk. Museum of Varna history is not spoilt with city’s budget generosity but its hosts are kind and very eager to share knowledge about their city.
The resort is located on the coast and hills around the coast. There are hotels, cafes and restaurants to fit every budget. The resort is very family friendly. Whilst tourist of every age group relaxing at the Golden Sands, its entertaining for everyone and quiet after midnight, so you won’t find it disturbing if you’re traveling with kids. Restaurant’s menus come in several languages to cater Russian-, German-, Bulgarian-, English- and French-speaking customers. Staff also speak different languages.
We stayed at the Admiral hotel during the first week of September. Whilst the hotel boats of its fives stars, the rooms will not get more than three stars by Western/American standards (staff gets four stars for the effort). There’s wi-fi in the hotel lobby, internet in your rooms (you might have to ask for a cable at the front desk) and you can by wi-fi cards for wireless around Global-Sands (ask at the front desk). Sea view room – speaks for itself.
The hotels’s pool is free and so are the chairs/umbrellas, whilst those on the beach come up to 27 Levs for two for a day. The beach is busy but clean, there are massage stations (30 levs for 30 minutes), and servers walking around taking your orders for drinks food and snacks. Vienna café – can be very slow service and deserts are well presented but that ends there. The outside seats are good for people watching.
I was looking forward to trying the local cuisine but was greatly disappointed as most of the restaurants serve the same (mostly grilled meat dishes). Plenty of fresh vegetables but not a chance for a decent pasta sauce (and no such thing as al-dente pasta) or decent sea food (the irony!). Local beer is cheap but it’s lighter than any American light beer.
Across the Admiral’s parking lot there’s a place called “Village” – a very cozy restaurant in the shade of trees which the place is built around. A bit pricier than most joints that offer the same food, but it’s probably worth it. Lasagna, pizza and salads are good. Don’t bother with soups tough. Another place that boast of offering traditional food is “The Old House” about 100 meters north of coast – also a large restaurant built around large trees, serves good grilled meat where you can watch it roast (same as at the Village) and in the evening the live music band gives quite a show (very lively traditional music). Past the village there’s the “Gibraltar” restaurant – service is excellent, food is average and overpriced. Up the hill from the Gibraltar there’s an Indian restaurant (thank God!). Again – lower your expectations but you’ll appreciate having something “different” after a few days of same food. Other food joints – same menu everywhere but good service and kind people.
We rented a car for three days, which was around 70 USD a day on average, so I suppose you need to have a good reason to have it. We traveled north up the coast, not much to see– small villages, etc but can be interesting for one-time car adventure – not traffic, etc.
It’s easy to get to Varna, but do have a map on you as it’s not easy to find them in town or at the hotel and highways/streets/intersections are not marked, and neither are local attractions (you’ll see marking to city center and that’s about it). Having lived in Russia for some time the architecture and most sites will not impress you, but I don’t regret seeing the town. Do note that streets are narrow and parking is not any easier than in the Big Apple, DC, or Moscow for that matter. The Happy Bar and Grill – has been there for quite a while. Well set up but nothing extraordinary – simply a more westernized menu, well presented. Staff is friendly as anywhere.
There’s a water park on the territory of the resort – 27 Levs a person for a day. A van will take you up there from a bus stop across from the “Gibraltar” for 3 or 4 Levs. There are also small passenger trains running up and down the coast (2 levs a person).

we stayed here for the reason that it was just on the beach and the 5 stars is just for that on the beach. the staff were VERRY unfriendly when we gave a tip to the maid she did not even try to say thank you. the corridors where roasting and you needed a phd to work out how you use the air conditioning. the balconys where small there was verry little storage there is only 1 pc throughout the whole hotel you can use. the bell hops where nice though. the rooms seemed a little amaller than out 3 star hotel which we were staying at before. there were 6 in our party so in stead of giving us 3 rooms 2 in each they put 3 in 1 room. the 3rd person (me) had to sleep on a pull out camp bed with a matress on it only an inch thick you could feel every bar so we had to ask for another matress but it was still really uncomfy let alone it being half the size of the other singal beds. i ended up having to sleep woth the other 2 in their bed which was a squeeze. the pool was dirty. the lifeguards pulled away your sunbed if it appeared you were not using it. you had to cross a road to get to it. we were beside a hall which played music at night which kept us awake but who doesnt like listening to alice ? who the flip is allice all night long. the balconys are not that private you could see right along the whole building everyone out for a smoke and a pankake. the food was horrible but ice cream is nice. if you do stay here visit the ice cream stall across the road near the pool the best ice cream you will ever have with such wierd flavours.

This hotel has been recommended to us by Czech travel agency called Alexandria as 5* luxury hotel. The hotel was truly the most beautiful building in Golden Sands resort, but service was terrible, almost none existing. No one has welcomed you in this hotel and no one smiles. Rooms were not cleaned properly and you have to tip cleaner to get a correct amount of towels. We've paid for sea view because we had a child and wanted relaxing quit evenings. But no one told us that all bars and loud entertainments are happening just under the our windows. Restaurant has been divided into two areas, smoking and non smoking. Smoking one had a nicer tables and chair. A lot of time we couldn't find a clean table and waitresses were not helpful and they've answering their mobil phones during serving you. Also drinks prices were various, depend on the waiter’s mood. Fruit choice was very poor. This hotel is not very child friendly, also the wooden floor around the pool had a lots of holes and chlorine was added to pool while children were still in it. The beaches are beautiful although not looked after properly. Its real shame, because the sea and beaches could be really exceptional. It’s the service which lets you down and bad experience. We and many other guests have written some complains in the hotel complain book, but to be honest, I am not sure if anybody from the management would read it.

My boyfriend and I wanted a relaxing holiday in the sun so we went to Bulgaria for a week. Looking online prices were a bit dear so we went to Balkan Tours. There the guy who owned balkan tours and was bulgarian told us to stay in Hotel Admiral in golden sands as it was the best. (I originally wanted to stay in sunny beach, he advised against this)

On arrival at our hotel we were anything but disappointed! The area surrounding the hotel (which is right in the centre of everything! No other hotel quite has this luxury) is lovely, there is a huge eiffel tower which has a bar on the 1st floor, a pirate ship restaurant, shops, casinos, you name it. The hotel itself was very grand, I'm quite fussy with where i stay on holiday and this didnt disappoint me. Very friendly staff, the only rude people there were the other tourists!

We did not expect much from our room - we had been told rooms are basic and only have single beds. Our room was great, it had 2 beds pushed together to make a nice double, tv, balcony, everything well decorated and classy, Our bathroom had a huge walk-in shower, nice classy sink and toilet. It also had airconditioning that you could control youself which we loved. We brought our own dvd player though as the only english channels were MTV and Cartoon Network.

The pool and beach that belonged to Admiral were also great. The beach and pool were clean, our beach had lovely wooden, thatched parasols whereas other areas had crappy ones. Girls also ran around with drinks and food for you!

The resort was much more than we ever expected, a typical day for us (we are aged 21 and 26 by the way) was having breakfast, going to the beach to read and relax, back to the hotel for a snooze or a dvd, then down to the pool when it was more quiet and then out to dinner and exploring the resort. (our hotel had its own bank in it as well which is great for exchanging your money!)

The resort has lots of bars, shops and restaurants. The people are really friendly there, they may ask you a million times to come to their bar or whatever but a simple "no thanks" is enough for them. The food was the only thing that didnt appeal to us - the meat isnt the same as UK meat, although they had lots of nice babequed meats. We stuck to pizza, pasta and chicken mostly. There are plenty of cool bars along the resort, Our fave bar was along the beach, it had fabulous white leather couches and we drank mojitos and white russians all nite!

The shops mostly consist of fake handbags, fake perfume, fake clothes etc etc but it was still nice to look around and the people are quite friendly, although sometimes wont give you peace to look at things.

Overall, Hotel Admiral was a clean, classy hotel. If you want the best hotel out of all of golden sands this was it. No other hotel was as central as this hotel, we took a day trip to the Dolphinarium which was great and on our way back we saw several hotels which didnt look half as nice as ours (more out of the way and cheaper looking). It is a great place for families or young people like ourselves. Weather was also great, it rained one night and that was it - nice and warm all week.

I think some people havent been leaving great reviews because they are too fussy and expect far too much. Dont - if you want a ridiculously grand, classy hotel then go to the hilton in paris or new york, bulgaira isnt for you. If you want a lovely, clean hotel with ocean views that will be relaxing and comfortable then come to the admiral. We will definately be going back again but we have other places to explore first.

Didn't stay here, but just lazed in the bar and played pool all evening. Very warm welcome by polite employees.

Seems a reasonable place to stay in Golden Sands and right in the centre of the action
