We stayed here for 2 weeks in July with our 3 kids(ages 10 years, 7 years and 5 months) and had a relaxing time. This is an ideal vacation spot if you just want to get some sun and not do anything much else.

The hotel rooms are very spacious and our request to have two rooms next to each other was accommodated by the reception despite July being a very busy time. Rooms are clean and the housekeeping services were very satisfactory. The rooms are spread over multiple buildings and there are lift services for only some of the main buildings. We were first checked into 2 rooms in a back building which required taking a lot of stairs and then an elevator ride up to our floor, followed by a long walk down several corridors to our rooms. As mentioned above, the reception did move us to rooms in another building given that we had a 5 month old with us and doing stairs with her pram was not exactly what we had planned for the 2 weeks.

There are 2 lovely pools at 2 different levels. The lower pool was more crowded since it was closer to the bar area and animation. The hotel animal team was just average and did not seem as motivated as some of the teams we have had experience with in Greece and Brazil.
There is also a baby pool at the upper level but we (or for that matter anyone else) did not use it.

For the more sporty ones, there is soccer and ping pong available. The entertainment team arranges games everyday - the schedule is put up in the reception area.

Food is good, served buffet-style, and somewhat varied. It was great to have lots of fish on the menu, including the lovely black sea shark. There is also a choice to eat a la carte in their 3 restaurants - Traditional Bulgarian, Japanese and an Argentinian Grill restaurant. There is no limit on how many a la carte meals you can have during your stay. We tried each restaurant once for dinner, and did the buffet for the rest of the 2 weeks.

Drinks are very limited for an all-inc resort and this was a major disappointment. They have a cocktail special of the day that they serve every afternoon at the pool bar, some of which were alright. Others felt incredibly watered down.

There was a gala night with some entertainment and special buffet, and also a special dance/musical night around the pool area. There were a few other theme dinners during the 2 weeks we stayed there, providing for some variation in the food and ambience. The food staff does work very hard and this was definitely appreciated!

There are musical, dance and folklore shows in the indoor bar area every night. There's a nice terrace just outside the bar with a few chairs where we preferred sitting after dinner (to avoid the noisy bar area inside).

The beach is a short 4-5 minute walk from the hotel, down a short paved road. The hotel has it's own beach area cordoned off and free loungers are available. The beach area is clean and not very crowded. There are a number of water sports available for a fee - we jet skied with the kids for a reasonable price (I forget exactly what we paid).

Tip for withdrawing money: Dont use the hotel exchange counter or any currency exchange booths on the promenade. Each one of them, including the one at the hotel, is a rip off! There are a few ATMs on the promenade where you can use your Maestro/Visa/MC to get local currency. Just take a right on to the promenade when you get there from the hotel, and continue until you see the ATM on your left next to the supermarket. About a 5-8 minute walk along the promenade.

If you feel like a change from the routine hotel food or atmosphere, there are plenty of hotels, bars and cafes on the promenade. There is even a foot spa with exotic Japanese fish and a bar set in a mini-Eiffel-tower a short walk down the promenade from the hotel.

We did one day trip from the hotel (arranged through our Flemish tour operator, Sunjets.be) to Nessebar. It's a long day out and with our family of 5, an exhausting day with a long bus ride to get there and back. I do recommend it though. Nessebar is very special and it did give us a welcome change from the same old golden sands promenade walk/beach+pool routine.

One disappointment at this hotel is that they do not provide iron/ironing board and you need to turn your clothes in to housekeeping to have them pressed. Charges were not exorbitant, but nevertheless, way more than I expected to pay at an all-inclusive resort. They even managed to lose quite a few of my childrens' clothes that were sent out for laundry and were not even apologetic about it. I hope the hotel management fixes this issue, because for the rest, the 2 weeks here was a very good and positive experience for us.

To summarize, a great all inclusive resort for a family with young children.

Room Tip: Best rooms are ones with elevator service and not in the main building; avoid the rooms in the main...

Me and my family went to this hotel on the 20th august for 2 weeks and i absolutly loved it!
the weather was amazing, we didnt have one cloudy day, although towards the end of the second week the nights were alot cooler, but only cold enough to wear a thin cardigan. i didnt expect it to still be warm in bulgaria at this time of year as we have never been this late before but the weather was very surprising.

The staff was very friendly and would all go out of their way to help you, the manager was especially helpful, one night we was there england was playing in a euro qualifier and the manager opened up the nightclub in order for me and my family, and a few others to watch the football game which i thought was amazing of them!

The food was always different, could be improved but is well worth paying for. My dad told me the beer behind the pool bar was not very nice so he stuck to spirirts, he didnt find this much of a problem though, also, if you ask for whisky they will give you their brand, but we saw that if you ask for jim beam, they store in behind the bar out of sight so you have to ask!

The hotel is amazing for kids, they always had something to do and the animation team worked extremely hard to cater for everybody, they all deserve a special mention and they are one of the main reasons i am going back next year, coud not have asked any more of them!

the maid also went out of her way to make our rooms very clean (me and my sister were pretty messy) and she also made pretty pictures on our bed which was also nice to come back too, really enjoyed the service off the maid and wouldl ike to thank her! Also, the bar staff would go out of their way to make you a specific drink if it wasnt on the menu and they also gave service with a smile and would always be polite, special mention to Sisko, the bar manager as he always made the coctails look amazing and would make sure your stay at the hotel was memorable, he deserves to be in the posistion he is in.

The nightclub was lively and unexpected, the DJ (also part of the animation team) would take requests from customers in order t cater for everybody, he played engish, russian and songs in other languages too and everybody there always seemed to be having a good night, although i did see people with a red band (means under the age of 18) down there and it does say youvegot to be 18, its not very strict.

i would reccommed to every type of group as it appealed to familys, children and also teenagers, i dont think its suitable for older people as its a very lively hotel.

Me and my family have already booked for next year and we cant wait!!!

Fantastic holiday hotel. I stayed here with my 3 kids this August and we completely loved the place. The animation work tirelessly to make sure the kids always have something to do (football / table tennis / darts / boules / basketball / volleyball etc), the pools are superb and the food is unbelievably good - 4 completely separate restaurants with different nationally themed meals. We totally loved the games night on Wednesday - they had a live band outside (plus free candyfloss and cocktail stalls) and all the hotel teams set up stalls around the pool and held competitions for the guests to take part in (towel medelling, speed packing, massage competition). Wonderful fantastic staff, and it's only about 100m from the beach. Fabulous.

Stayed for 2 weeks with family, all the staff couldnt have been more attentive! nothing was too much bother, clean towels provided daily, food great, never had to wait long for drinks, entertainment was fun, kids and adults had numerous activites, animation team superb and genuinely enjoyed their activites and always smiling !! , veni cleaned our room to a very high standard daily, leaving sculptures made from towels to my son&neices delight. My son had an accident on the beach and needed stitches, the hotel staff were all concerned about him on arrival back from the clinic which made him feel special . If you are staying in golden sands stay here honestly you wont be disappointed

Room Tip: entertainment goes on til 11pm so if want quiet dont get a room over that section of the bar

I had never been to Bulgaria but looked forward to my trip. We had researched the Hotel Bolero on trip advisor and it gave fantastic reviews. We trusted trip advisors advise and booked the hotel... It was the best holiday I have ever been on and was great value for money. The food, service, standard of accomodation and the entertainment was brilliant and a very high standard. I could not fault 1 thing about the hotel. I have never had service from so many genuine, freindly and fantastic people. The entertainment or animation team were fabulous and the children just loved the staff and got so much enjoyment from the events. I never had to queue once for food, drink or events in their busiest period....
It is certainly the best holiday we have ever had and the added bonus was there was a gorgoeus golden beach 3 minutes walk away which was lined with market stalls and shops which were very reasonable...
We will be back Hotel Bolero rocks!!!! keep it up !!!!

Room Tip: ask for a quite room away from the bar as entertainment goes on unitl 11am if you have children

This is one fantastic 4 star hotel. Fantastic service, food (could be a little more diversified..) but all the persons from the staff were fantastic . The rooms are very spacious, immaculated cleaning, but the furniture a litlle dated ( after all we are in bulgaria...)

Although that I would recommend definitely it. It is not a 5 star hotel neither we are in turkey ( that has a most sofisticated tourism and facilities), but all the staff was excelent, the food amazing and the beach is very good and only 50 meters away.

The entire resort is very good with a lot of things to do and very good for children and families.

I higly recommend it as a very cost eficcient destination !

Nice hotel, food above average for an all inclusive compared to mexico and carribean resorts we have stayed at. Pools were too cold, we are canucks and are used to cold water but the pool water was too cold for our liking Room was clean not 5* surroundings but comfortable. Fitness centre was a joke. If we return to Bulgaria, specifically Golden Sands- I would not hesitate to stay here again.
