“Close to everything”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

Me and my girlfriend went here mid august 2013 and stayed for 6 nights.
The hotel's strong point is that it's close to the sea and quite close to the center attractions.
It also has a general mini market right to the left of it.
The pool is nice but a bit small. The snack bar not so good...
A strange thing was that the reception is at level 0 (elevator level) and the first floor is at level 2. There is no level 1 :)) The parking space is at the back of the hotel and consists of a sigle line of parking spaces.
We had all inclusive (lite = this was the only all inclusive variant) which turned out to be a good choice rather than going half board which was the standard. The food was ok, but not too variety and dining tables were few. The drinks are ... not so good to say the least.
Otherwise the waiters are ok, they came 50% of the time and asked if we wanted something to drink, but as i said before like the tables, they were also too few.
Now.. to get to the important stuff: the things that bothered me in this vacation were the following:
First and most anoying - the cleaning lady - a short haired sneaky woman which stopped replacing the towels in our room after the first few days. Also i should mention the towel combination was never the same... it changed with each passing.. 2 long towels, 2 hand towles, 2 feet towels was the standard, but we got the full combination only for 2 days.. there was always at least one missing... Not to mention she failed to notice that there was no more toilet paper... we called her up and she acted like she spoke only bulgarian.. which.. both me and my girlfriend do not speak or understand. She looked very angry that the towels that she had not changed for at least 2 days were on the floor for her to understand that they must be changed and baffled something in her own language. It was obvious she wanted some little attention to do her job properly, which she got after she also changed my bed. About the toilet paper i had to take matters into my own hands and got that myself. Didn't want to bother playing mime with her again..
2. bracelet replacement = i had a rash underneath the all inc bracelet and asked for it to be replaced.. The girl at the reception stared at me and told me "it's going to cost you" like i was just changing the bracelet for fun.. After she saw i was serious and didn't care she told me i did not have to pay but both me and my girlfriend were already mad as she had gone to get the wallet from the room and we payed her anyway as a positive protest :))) and showing of not giving a ****...
3. asking drinks at the bar and getting pankes, roast pork or whatever the special was so anoying... you had to stay in quite long lines of people. It's like the staff were just trying to find a way for the tourists to get served in a more difficult way so they would not come again at some other time...

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that are close to the elevator shafts or on top of the reception. Also get a room facin...

I've just got back from a week at Golden Sands staying at the Lilia Hotel.

I was very happy there and so were my children.

The location of the hotel near the sea front is excellent. The pool is nicely secluded. An extra bed was put in a room without argument. The staff were friendly enough.

The breakfasts were varied and fine enough (I chose just half board as this allows exploring of the many restaurants on the sea front).

The rooms were very clean and the cleaning staff pleasant to my children which is always appreciated.

Money change was done immediately with no problem.

The weather was wonderful and it was lovely swimming in the Black Sea, just 30 metres from the hotel, with the sun shining.

So I would recommend this hotel as an excellent place to visit. I'm so happy I chose to go to Golden Sands and the Lilia Hotel,

Room Tip: It depends what you want. Face the beach of course if you can, but you are so near the beach with a...

I've been to Lilia last time in 2011. Last week i went again. The advantages of the hotel(on the beach, clean rooms, quiet area, good food) were there. Wi-Fi is free of charge at the reception and it works very good. We had all inclussive menu: breakfast - basicaly the same every day(sausages, pankakes, omletes, cheese, cereals etc but no English breakfast). Lunch and dinner - minimum 3-4 different dishes, salads, enough to have variety. In case you are not satisfied there are some restaurants next door.
Our room was with sea view. First we thought we will have some sleep problems(waking up to early because of the sun) but the curtains were very helpful.
The room was enough for us(2 adults and a small child) with a lot of space to put our luggage.
The beach is very close(20-30m). It is good for small children too(3-5m the water is not to deep). You can rent an umbrella(the whole package was around 15euros - 2 sunbeds, 2 matresses and 1 umbrella). The pool is split in two - one section for chldren(around 0.5m deep) and one for adults(1.5m deep). There is a lifeguard.
The hotel is perfect for families with children. If you want instead to visit clubs&stuff maybe you shoul go south(to International and Admiral hotels area).

Room Tip: Sea view as always.

hotel lilla golden sands bulgarea
i dont normally write a review as what i think is not important to you but i feel i need to counter some of the things said we arrived late at nightand and as i am a big boy now i carry my own case so i was in to the reception desk before the night porter could come out to me but he was comeing check in was quick and frendly they explained about breakfast times the pool card ect i got a safety deposit box a must on holiday ( i did think about the box they have one key and i have the other it takes two keys to open but their must be spare keys or what happens about the keys that are lost or stolen it must happen but so long as you have good reception staff all is fine because they do not let you open the box without the room card with a code number on it just something that crossed my mind )
the night porter took the cases up to our room i took it that i had better let him do his job the room was large i thought wow i know that i am over weight but they did not have to give me a bigger room the room was a big room not like most of the other rooms it als had a bath and not just a shower it was probley a family room one draw back was that the main air con unit was on the roof a couple of floors up it was like being on a ship engine running all night but the size of the room made up for that any way i think for crimes in a past life the universe dictated that i must wake up every night so the air con noise was not so bad
the room was at the back of the hotel the room was at the back of the hotel i have had rooms at the front before and a sea viewis nice to whatch the sun rise at 5 and see the fishing boats go out but if you dont do that then its like laser beams comeing thought the gaps you left in the curtains and the sun just shines in until about 3 oclock the room just gets hot but if you like that then its fine and you can sit their overlooking the pool i went for a room at the back because cooler less noise being on the secound floor you would open the curtains or stand on the balcony and there would be a coach load of people looking at you but hey i am a good looking guy they can look at me
their is a notice in the bathroom if you want the towels changed then leave them on the floor if you dont hang them up easy the room was cleaned every day sometimes they were late but then sometimes a lot of gusts were leaveing and the cleaners would have more to do putting extra beds out ect sometimes the cleaners would leave things made out of towels we found it funny a elephant a swan ect i would alway say hello to the cleaners they were happy and would always speak back the T V only had two english channels euro news BBCworld news but hey i am on holiday i am not sitting in my room wathing TV i am out drinking beer
nothing was stolen from my room i did make sure that cameras ect were always hid out of sight when not with me as i would in any hotel we did leave the DS3 about i know its not a laptop but it will cost you £150 to replace it was not touched the phone did ring once or twice ( sometimes people phone your room to see if it is empty or sometimes a wrong number or the cleaner calling each other its just that i am aware of the phone ringing thing ) drinking glasses were washed every day the bin emptied every day take note the rooms use key cards if someone can copy your bank card at home someone can copy your key card here also the key card doors can not be locked from the inside so small people can take themselves off for a walk when ever they like
time for breakfast normal bulgarian breakfast for holiday hotelswe are up at 7 so one of the fist down you must remember that the hotel caters for all the people there and not just the few brits it was normal bread cheese frankfurters eggs fruit ect we always bring our own breakfast cereal and peanut butter their milk is fine normal toasters being not very good staff were friendly
when their was bacon i belive that it was steamed not fried but i found it to ok
swimming pool you have a pool card at the lilla at 9am the life guard comes out you give him the card he gives you a sun lounger cushion and a towel for each person on the card some people do put their towels on the sun loungers earley but without a hotel towel and cushion the lounger is not yours so anyone that has the hotel things can just take the lounger most people were too polite to do that but if you could not find a lounger and told the life guard he would just empty them and give them to you their was never a problem with the loungers there seemed to be planty the thing i noticed was most people would go to the shady spots and not whear the sun was some people would come down early get the hotel towle ect set the loungers out and then go to breakfast and turn up hours later some thing i would not do if i arrived late at the pool and there were no loungers i would sit on the floor the pool was not big could do with being bigger a bit worn tiles missing ect normal bulgarian paving tiles up and down i do not think that thwe bulgarians like flat surfaces the pool was clean i would see the man check the water each day ( old fashioned kit not like we use ) and top up the chemicals when needed by the end of some days there would be a tide mark of sun cream around the side of the pool it would always be gone next morring now remember that the life guard is not like the life guard at home he is mostly there to give out the towels the firts rule of safty is you are your own safty officer do not rely on him to look out for you he is not thrir to look after your children that is your job as a greater being once said simples
ther is a pool side bar for all in or you can buy from i am not one for drinking alcohol near the pool its a safty thing sun alcohol and water do not mix i do my time at the pool then leave and do the alcohol but hey thats me if you think its fine thas up to you but dont expect someone else to save you and whach your children
their is also a roof top pool some people complane that you have to pay to use it you have to do something because you can not have every one wanting to go and use the roof top pool myself i dont use the roof top pool its a long walk when the ball gose out of the pool the hotel is clean a bit worn here and there but it gets a lot of use their is a night club down below i never used it and never heard any noise from it their is a small restaurant ? pub on the side of the hotel food and beer were ok at the pub average price a bit in to football and more to german taste i did eat their once but i am not in to football next door is a supermarket restaurants across the road a donna bar right out side the resort train stops out side their is a swimming pool with slides across the road you have to pay to use walk through this pool area and you are on the beach there are 4 lifts during the breakfast rush getting a lift is not easy also we have a special needs pushchair put this in the lift and there is very little room so if yoy are a wheel chair user you may not get in the lift mind you the wehole of golden sands is not good for wheel chairs hills and steps if you were a wheel chair user you would have to go out the hotel back door go right around the hotel to get to ths pool area the hotel steps were washed every day 8am there was a man washing the steps i was told by someone on the all inclusive that the food was ok but 6 days of pizza and chips made him a bit board i do not do all inclusive its not good in bulgarea
wifi i did not use the wifi im on holiday but i could see that it was in the reception area and from the small groups of americans i found sitting on the floor by the lifts and stairwell upstairs that their wetre hot spots you just had to find them
the staff were good and happy i said hello to the cleaners every day they smiled and said hello to me breakfast staff the same also at reception all happy i do make a point of saying hello some people seem to think that the staff are not equal to them and just walk passed without even a look i would hold a door open for the cleaner as i would for anyone on the day i was leaveing i sat out side with my bags waiting for the coach to come the manager of the breakfast hall saw us and came out to say goodbye she did not have to do that and when the coach came i was putting my bags in when a porter saw me and came running out of the hotel to help me he did not have to do that i was leaveing and it only a bag to lift their is a taxi at this hotel but i tended to use the taxi at the next hotel that driver spoke better english nothing wrong with the taxi driver at the lilla if you dont want to talk i have been to the lilla 3 times and i would go threr again
remember that the universe reflects what you give out so if you give out miserable moaning old git the universe will reflect back at you miserable moaning old git
relax your on holiday if you cant eat the food you.ll lose weight get over it if you cant sleep stay awake drink more beer
also i like balkan holidays they have a welcome meeting i dont go and they dont bother me after all there is nothing that they can tell me that i wont find out my self and i have nothing to complane about my only rule on holiday is i try never to eat in the same place twice
always look on the bright side of life and you will have a good holiday

Room Tip: rooms at the back are cool and not so noises rooms at the front are hot

Room was comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space but it stops there. Food was awful, repatative, bland, poorly presented and either warm/cold.Pasta for breakfast. Staff in the restaurant were miserable, which was unusual as they were students. Bar staff were extreamly rude ( ice in your drink was an inconvinience ) Dining rooms times changed throughout the week as the hotel had various conferences which impacted greatly upon the holiday guests,we had to wait in a queue behind 100 deligates for lunch. Sufficient sunbeds but the sun goes behind the building at 3.30,there is a roof top pool but you have to pay and also for the drinks. The AI is not like others experienced,no snacks between meals and the drinks are limited and very diluted. I would not recommend this hotel or the resort, there are better hotels in Golden Sands, but I would reccomend Nessebur it is a much nicer resort.

Room Tip: Room 520 badly staines carpet and cracked wash basin, rooms on the rear are very noisy due to deliver...

When we booked we booked all inclusive! To get there and find they dont do all inclusive as you would normally expect apparently its is all inclusive lite which means no snacks through day/evening poor selection of drinks what was only availble till 10pm!! the staff was rude and would rather wait on the Germans over English.... no entertaiment .... pool on roof of hotel u have to pay and ur all inclusive lite doesnt count on the roof bar!! The pictures shown when booking the hotel was false advitising as all pictures showed slide and inflatables bar and a grand size pool... when you get there them pools are not part of the hotel and to get in them you have to pay!! As they are part of the Golden Beach Park Hotel which is behind Lilia!! We went on our Honeymoon and was gutted at how boring the hotel was when we had been very selective in picking! Food is ok if u love pork enough to eat it everyday!! Same food day in day out ..... Never going back to that hotel again!!
