Varna Golden Sands and hotel International.
On 1.sep.2012 we were four days in Varna Golden Sands in hotel International.
Hotel Rated as 5 stars. Rooms are very spacious, and have a safe. The fee for the safe was 20 leva to the period. It's about 10 euro's. Standard shower with good Accessories, towels was no so good. The bath was separately from the toilet.
Our room had two large beds KING SIZE. All closets have only one drawer!
Even by the bed - no drawers.
Good and very quiet air condition.
Our room view was towards the sea and the promenade, and is very nice.
Staff was very kind and tries resolved problems as quickly as possible.
Beautiful pool and access to the pool is from the side of the Hotel.
Opposite the hotel was the beach - about 100 meters. Cross a small road and we are on the beach.
The prices for umbrellas were 5 leva - about 2 euro's, mattresses 3 leva - about 1.5 euro's and deck chair on 8 leva - about 4 euro's.
From the pool you can take a pool towel with deposit of 20 leva for towel.
Meals were not level of 5 stars hotel. Cheese is not always fresh, cakes you can pass up, and small selection of meats. You not stay hungry," but for the taste and smell cannot be argue". At least in end of the meal was good fruit. You cannot bring a drink from outside. You have to pay for the drink .The prices were at 1.sep.2012 was:
Beer- "Heineken" 5.9 leva, - Juice 3.5 leva, - Tea 2 leva, - Coffee from 2.5 to 4 leva.
You can eat lunch and dinner at the hotel's casino for 2 leva (about 1 euro). You have to register to casino in the casino hotel International near the casino entrance. Registration is free. No need to gamble. Go through the casino to the end - go up the stairs to the second floor where you pay for the meal. It is like a buffet dinner at the hotel.
The mini bar prices in the room was: mini bottle of whiskey 7 leva, vodka 5 leva, energy drink 7 leva, beer 3 leva, juice 3 leva, 0.5 liters of water -2 leva.
A price at the supermarket next door to the hotel was: juice -1 leva, beer- 2 leva, sodas -1 leva. The chocolates (chocolate LINDT- 5 leva) and spirits were cheaper here - than in the duty free prices. For example - Irish cream baileys (1 liter) liquor in duty free costs about 32$ and here about 21$.
The bus number 409 to Varna stop at the front of Moll Varna (don't confused with Grand moll) and ticket costs 3 leva. It takes about one hour. Walk to the bus station from hotel take about 10 minutes. This is first stop and you can find seats. But back to hotel, the bus is full and you have to stand all the way to the hotel. At the front of Moll Varna was a cab station and was 19 leva back to the hotel. Consider taking a taxi back, and if you are 4 people take a taxi from the hotel too. There were taxis that take an exorbitant price of 32 leva up from hotel to Moll Varna. The price was 20 leva only. If you do not find a taxi agree with the price - go to the bus station and take a taxi from there. The taxi ride takes about 20-25 minutes.
Warning!!! Pickpocket in buses! They go in pairs or with a small child, and when the child makes himself falling and someone tries to help him up, they pickpocket him. Our travel these four women together and local residents warned us to keep things and wallets safe.
The promenade has facilities for children. The prices were 5 leva each. Cars collide, huge wheel, there are a facility springboard and more.
When we checked prices boardwalk shops, the prices of shoes and clothes were the same price in Moll Varna.
If you love good cakes so go to hotel Admiral (on the promenade close to hotel International) and there's a selection of delicious cakes at about 5 leva for the cake.
For young and young at heart there is a club called "Arrogance" with three rooms with different types of music. The club is on the way to the bus on the right side of the road. Admission was 8 leva.
Exchange rate in September 2012 was:
1 USD = 1.52 leva
1 Euro = 1.92 leva
1 Pound Sterling = 2.38 leva
We exchanged money at a hotel or in a certified changer. Difference between hotel and changer was the 4-6 leva for 100 $.
Warning!!!!
Do not exchange money in the street. They give old leva and they have no value!
Have a nice vacation.
