“sunny Beach”
Reviewed September 6, 2009

Just returned from SB after 2 weeks Half Board at the Mena Palace.
First of all the pluses
The hotel was very good, cleaned every day, staff very good.
Good location close to most things bars resturants etc
Now minuses.
As we expecxted (after reading reviews on T/Advisor) the food was awful. Bland every meal, why on earth do they bother with food. we ate out 10 nights out of 13 spent at this hotel after walking through the resturant part of the hotel just to see what was on the menu. When we did eat anything we ended up leaving most of it.
The resort
Beach first class.
Plenty of bars & resturants, fast food outlets some good some not so good.
Not very classy in fact mostly very tacky.
Wish some bars would come up with some original entertainment Karaoke in almost every bar wore a bit thin in the end.
Overall good holiday glad I went but would not go again

Thank Guzply

“excellent holiday”
Reviewed August 30, 2009

Just returned from 10 days in Sunny Beach. it is an absolutely beautiful place. We stayed in Grand Victoria hotel, which is fantastic and only 50 mtrs from the long sandy beach. It costs 70 lev to get from Bourgas airport to sunny beach(don'y pay more). a day trip i would recomend is get the bus (1lev) to Nessebar for the day, beautiful shops, restaurants and views here, you could return by boat (15 lev) also a trip to aqua park Nessebar-great day out for all the family. Shopping is very good in sunny beach so bring an empty suitcase(unlike i did and really regret it). Restaurants i would recommend are Vagabond and caribby steak house. We went to a chinesse one ngt and it was disgusting...be very careful. A fabulous and very safe hoilday, one i will never forget :)

“Sunny Beach heaven”
Reviewed August 19, 2009

Sunny Beach is exactly what it says, miles of golden sand only spoilt by sunbeds and sunbathers litter.
The sea is warm and clear withs a safe distance where you can walk out into the water. Many bars line the beach front and on the sand also which is very entertaining.
The many miles of shops seem to offer the same items of cheap designer copies, but always check the prices as they do very from shop to shop.
On an evening the town centre comes alive with Neon signs & music most of which is aimed at the young & carefree.
WARNING pick pockets & theives are all over and women wanting to sell them selves to you. When we were there we saw many unhappy people who had their wallets & jewelery stolen and when they wanted the Police all they did was to shrug their sholders any say that they were too busy and if you continued to protest that an evening (or more) in prison was the asnwer. (Not Good)
It was so nice not to have noisy mopeds running up & down, instead they had battery powered golf buggies, electric scooters , cycle rickshaws & horse & buggies. The only problem was that you didn't hear them approaching from behind and that they insisted on driving in the most dencely crowded areas of town
All in all a 2nd Benidorm.
The flights to Bulgaria are basic and the cabin crew not tottaly up to speed with english so the safety talk was short and you had to laugh a little, which is more than the staffs sence of humer, and the on board food was always smoked sausage. I recomend that you take your own and save a lot of money.
This is a nice place to visit but i wouldn't want to be there more than a week.
Have a wonderful holiday where evere you go

“It's only 1lv a pint & beware of taking a taxi at night”
Reviewed July 28, 2009

Yes it's only 1lv a pint for Bulgarian beer at type family resturants and during happy hour periods, but it can also go up to 8lv for a bottle of beer in the more popular bars and night clubs.

Beware of taxi's. Always agreed a price you are happy to pay before hand before getting in and taking your journey. Be willing to hangle for a better price. It is very common and happen to us for the taxi driver to say 'i'm on the meter', it's what ever it is! this is ok during the day we found, however at night it was a different story. It happen to us and others at our hotel, we ended up paying £25.00 for a 5 minute journey on the meter! They will rip you off, and you have no choice but to pay! And at night they are not happy about giving change, always have the correct amount of money.

The best hotel to stay at is the Hotel Neptune, slightly more expensive, but you get a modern hotel and facilities, on the beach and minutes walk from the best bars and clubs.
