“Don't choose this hotel if you like cleanness.”

Hotel is located in good place but young personel work was very poor. The worst thing was meal and table tools - meal was the same all days: chicken, pica, potted vegetables and salads for supper and eggs, corns, plums for breakfast; dishes and table tools didn't washed properly. People must wait till personel will bring additional dishes - for all it's not enough. Tableclothes are dirty. Personel all the time are very not hapyy.

A lot better food if you eat out, not many English people there when we stayed in July. There is a notice not to reserve sun loungers with your towel as it will be removed, therefore always sun loungers any time of the day. We paid around 16 pounds per person per night half board.

We stayed at the last floor of the building with the reception. The room was big, terrace very nice, but we had ants in the room (and terrace also). Another big problem was that the AC was not working. We called the reception the day we arrived, but no one came to fix it. Next morning we spoke at the reception, but nothing happened. In the evening we talked again to the lady at the reception and finally someone came. Still, nothing was fixed, they told us that it's a serious problem and we can change rooms if we want. That was not quite ok as we had our stuff all around the room. I think that the AC problem was no surprise for them, but I don't understand why they didn't fix it before.
Breakfast was medium - we found something we could eat, but not excellent. For example, we did not like any type of meat they had, but the cheese was good. We expected to find some rose jam and Nutella (or something similar), but had none.
The swimming pools were clean.

Positive:
- clean swimming pools
- big room
- big terrace
- clean bathroom

Negative:
- AC not working
- poor breakfast (we had a problem with food quality first of all)
- ants in the room and terrace

We stayed as a couple on a half board basis for the first two weeks of September 2012 with two other couples completing our party. The hotel consists of two blocks around a pool and communal area with and outside bar providing drinks and light food. The rooms were fairly spacious with balconies. Everything was clean and tidy with daily room service and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a good ten minute walk from the beach but the upshot is it being much quieter that some of the more upmarket establishments almost at the waters edge. Food was served buffet fashion in two separate dining rooms one in each block, the quality of which was mixed. Breakfast tended to be ok with fruit juices, cereals, fruit, bread and cold meats etc. Dinner, however, was rather bland, tasteless and repetitive. Chicken seemed to be prominent with various stews which were not appealing. Two weeks of such fare would be too much for most people. Luckily there were numerous establishments close by serving good food at reasonable prices. A meal which springs to mind was roast suckling pig direct from the spit with an excellent Bulgarian wine.
A visit to Nessebar is a must. A local bus service from outside the hotel runs frequently at a cost of one lev (50 cents) It may be a little crowded at times but beware of taxi drivers who try to tempt you with a fare of 30 lev and the bogus claim there wont be a bus for two hours.
We found the local people to be exceptionally nice, friendly and honest - with the exception of taxi drivers. All in all a most enjoyable trip. Of course it would be possible to get a nicer hotel nearer the beach with better facilities but you pays your money and..............

Room Tip: Better to try for bed and breakfast basis and eat out for dinner.

I switched to this hotel due to less than salutory reviews for a three star establishmnet in the resort. There had been rather negative blogs regarding the Lion Hotel but overall I was satisfied with many aspects.

First, the food (which had very mixed reviews from some travellers). If you do not expect Haute Cuisine then you should find sufficient choice, especially at Dinner. Chicken, Pork and Fish are the primary items to be found in eight heated trays although some dishes appear frequently (Chips, Pizza). The Salad Bar was of good quality and Soup is offered. Rather poor selection for Desserts. Breakfast is average with repetative hot selections each day (Hard boiled or Poached Eggs, Beans and some weird battered items!). Poor Hot Beverages (quality), decent Bread.

The location was reasonable, only a 5-10 minute walk to the seafront promenade. Small Pool area (split between the two hotel blocks). The rooms were acceptable for the price paid. We travelled during the last week of the season so they looked a little jaded. Functional Bathrooms with good showers. Low, fairly firm beds. However the major complaint was the lack of Air-conditioning (heating replaced this, set at 25 degrees, whilst the outside temperature was over 30 degrees!). Others complained without success.

Overall this is of a British 3 star standard hotel. There are certainly establishments with lovely seafront positions and greater facilities (very limited English TV channels), very few Child faclities) but at a much greater cost. If on a limited budget this delivers on most fronts.

I was of the oppinion that most Bulgarian Hotel staff were surly but found the staff here to be helpful, usually with a preceeding smile!

Sunny Beach really is the Bulgarian equivalent to Blackpool, brash with little subtlety but with plenty of energy and life with more souvenir kiosks and restaurants than the whole of Mallorca! If upmarket delights are required, avoid (although there are some impressive 5 star resorts in the north of the resort).

Room Tip: Choose east facing rooms in the main hotel block as the rooms with a westerly aspect suffers from gr...

Stayed in June Nice hotel at a good price.
Large clean rooms with good air con, towels changed everyday. Good pressure in showers and water always hot. Some english tv channels in room. Hotel in a quieter area just off strip and beach a short walk away also beside a bus stop. FOOD was good with nice salads and plenty of choice at dinners but the quality and choice of meats let it down breckfast no complaints had everything needed . Pool was nice and clean but a little cold. Pool area was good plenty of room and sun loungers no cussions so bring a beach towel. Currency exchange in hotel at a good rate unlike on the street who try 2 scam.
