“Ideal for Young Groups”
Reviewed November 23, 2011

Firstly, if you are a family then I wouldn't even consider going to Sunny Beach for a holiday - this place is pure mayhem and a real 18-30s resort. Though there are family-orientated things to be enjoyed here (mini-golf, donkey rides, shows) the quality of the resort and the majority of its hotels is not of a standard that I would ever want my family to endure.

Now, onto Yavor Palace. Literally in the centre of the resort, just off the main street that leads to the beach. Sunny Beach is a giant resort so you'll really appreciate being in the centre - it is 100% worth spending the extra to stay here than similar quality hotels in poorer locations. The hotel is very basic, whilst the general cleanliness and maintenance is fine there is no hint of luxury or "wow" factor to be seen. The pool area is a little small and overcrowded, and the usual issues with finding sun loungers is a problem at Yavor, but you are a 5-minute walk from the beach so can wander there if there is no room.

The breakfast is best avoided. We abandoned it after day three having had to make special trips to the supermarket for extra loo roll - the food at Yavor will make you poop violently. Restaurants are so cheap in the resort though and there is so much choice you really ought to head to Sunny Beach on a self-catering basis (We were on B&B as it actually cost LESS than the self-catering option - says it all about the quality of the food tbh!).

Some of the staff spoke a little English but were friendly enough. So long as you behave they leave you to it, the only telling off we ever got was for being in the pool beyond the opening hours. There is a currency exchange onsite with a decent rate which is useful as a lot of the resorts exchanges are corrupt and offer poor rates. I remember the rooms having brilliant walk-in showers, air-con and fridges - 3 essentials for this resort!

I would consider coming back to the hotel at 2am to be an early night; young groups will be coming and going until after sunrise, so light sleepers may have a problem getting some shut-eye.

All in all this is ideal for young groups. We go back to Sunny Beach year after year and always try for Yavor if the price is right. It is safe, basic accommodation that leaves you in the centre of the resort and walking distance of dozens of bars, pubs, restaurants and shops. Yavor Palace has no sense of style or luxury, but then thats not why you're going to Sunny Beach. 4*

I stayed at this hotel the 26th of August for 1 week, with 2 of my friends we are all 21 so this hotel was perfect for us. The location is very good for going out for meals or drinks etc, the hotel was basic but we were hardly ever there. The pool area was nice enough but the ' sun lounger game' was well and truly played every day. If you weren't putting towels down about 7am, you weren't getting a sunlounger!! Staff were not very friendly but I found this everywhere in Bulgaria so never took it personally. Read reviews with people saying about bed bugs there was none in our room and we never heard any horror stories when we were there. Also read about people getting robbed. When we first checked in the receptionist told us to leave our room key each time we were leaving, we never done this, and we never got robbed. Im assuming those who got robbed done this. Why would you leave your key with the hotel when you were out?!?!?!?
Overall a good holiday! But its what you make it! You get what you pay for at the Yavor Palace. :)

this hotel is shabby and run down in need of a refurb, rooms were clean but very basic not even a kettle provided. the beds were uncomfortable and the people next door had big ants in there beds!! there were 3 robberys from rooms in the week we were there, one was an elderly lady who had been broken into whilst asleep in her bed. the staff were uncaring and rude to her, told her to go to the police station but it was 1 of those things she should have had a safe deposit, which is the miost expensive ive come across. the cleaners were wonderfull and did the job to the best of there ability, and were the only staff that were polite. the resort its self isnt to bad, cheap to eat and drink, glad we went end of season when it was quieter, it is geared up to the younger generation. overall nice break shame about the hotel would never use it again

like all reviews on trip advisor u get varied reports according to taste and tolerance my view of the hotel is"-good points- great location for the beach, cleaning girl on 4th floor brilliant, towel display on ur bed every day, we saved ours and ended up with a room full of yellow towel displays until she was off then we had to use the swans for a shower, breakfast ok always something for all tastes, room was big with a wet room, air conditioning, t v with eurosports so got F1, balcony overlooking the pool a must, fridge in the room for your wine, which can be got in the shops for less than £1.50 A bottle, local points- beer can b got for as little as 40p a pint, restaurant "far...a" on the main road the best for price quality and service (by demitrius) get the Kavarrma. Bad points- rip off for a late checkout out at the hotel, get local tours rather than tompsons, cos its cheaper , if ur bothered about sex shop signs - dont go, money exchange go to crown, lots of street sellers just say no.

Had a great holiday - weather was great. Hotel is basic but adequate. room had a fridge. Safety deposit boxes are at reception and are expensive. I brought a kettle which was handy. there is a good physiotherapist on site at reasonable prices. breakfast was OK - eggs, beans toast, fruit. but the delph was chipped. I didnt like the look of the cereal or meats. 75 lev (approx 38 euro) is expensive to keep the room until 6 pm on the last day but we did it as our flight was not until 10 p.m. I didnt find it too noisy. I would stay again.

Room Tip: most rooms with pool view do not get evening sun. Room 209 does not have a pool view but gets the...
