HOTEL should be rated 2 star at max Staffsurley and unhelpfl. food unappatising and required reheating in microwave. Rooms appear to be cleaned once a season,at the end, we moved the bed and exposed layers of dust etc . The whole resort- bars/clubs /nightspots closed down by 5/6 Oct leaving 0 to do Bulgarian hospitality? none existant. All they want is your cash and you to go away.

The only good thing about this hotel was the location, excellent at only 1 min to the main bars, clubs and beach. The rest was a joke. Very rude staff, who blanked you and wouldnt look you in the eye when talking. On our arrival we had a blocked sink, dirty sheets and a damp stained carpet, after a 5 hour delay it was not what we needed. We asked for an alternative room, only to be told by a rude receptionist and rather abruptly that it was out of the question. We ended up laughing it off, and making the best of it, we didnt want it to effect our holiday.
The food was revolting, cold, old, and if you arrived late you got less choice as they never replenished it. The queues for the dining room were terrible, huge crowds would gather and then a stampeed to the few dishes on offer, everyone elbowing eachother to get some food. Alot of people agreed with us, and alot of times we gave the meals a miss, we lost our appitites because of it.
The pool was tiny, no sun loungers, unless you got up at 6am to reserve one with your towel, the staff over booked and the facilities couldnt cope with the number of guests.

Anyway after the bad hotel, i will discuss the resort its self. Sunny beach is excellent, nice beach, lively, fun and cheap booze. The clubs were good, epecially Viking, had alot of laughs in there. Over all we would go back , but not to Diamond hotel.

We have just returned after 2 weeks at this hotel and we are looking forward to going back.
After the daft o'clock flights, It was great to get checked in promtly and courtiously at reception, I think the whole process took approx 10 mins. Rooms were clean and spacious, bathroom great, no fault could be found. The whole staff were very heplful and friendly. Booked in for half board, food was plentiful and a very good variety of dishes were provided every day. No complaints about this hotel.
Out and about
The square is where the night life is , bars, disco's etc. We prefer to drink in local bars and the best 2 are Sharkey's on the main road towards the bus station and Rio's which is just at the back of the hotel towards the market stalls.Price wise, we couldn't fault them, this is real value for money.

Booked this holiday for myself and my partner earlier in the year, had never been to Bulgaria before and sounded interesting.

Decided on Diamond Hotel ( with the help of Toonman - see forum) due to it's location and really glad we did: The hotel is in the centre of Sunny Beach with a very short walk down the road I believe they call Flower Street (which has the Kuban Hotel on it - out of the Diamond hotel go right you will see the street on your left) When you see the Viking bar you have reached the beach. Along Flower Street there were loads of small snack shacks with everything from pizza, doughnuts, baked potatoes, ice-cream to mexican restaurants, english food restaurants etc. Corner bar is also down this road which is good for people watching -also buy one cocktail get another free.

Back to the hotel: Hotel has everything you need for a good holiday rooms were - I thought - a decent size, we did have a triple room and I assume the sofa was a sofa bed. There was a good size bathroom - towels changed everyday. Any problems we had i.e. the toilet seat broke - we reported it and it was fixed that day. There was a mini bar in the cupboard under the TV unit - a little space left to put your own water in to keep it cool. TV had a movie station and music stations which we kept on most the time we were in the room. bed made each day and sheets changed. The maids did come to our room in the morning around 9-10 am to change towels etc but if they saw that we were still in our room they would leave us and come back later. There were hangers to hang up clothes, loads of drawer space, cupboards etc. Glad we had the air con too.

Pool area is OK size I must admit we only stayed round the pool one afternoon for about 2 hours : you did feel like you were crammed in - all the loungers were very close together and unless you got up very early you did not get one! But the pool area seemed very nice but we liked to beach more. Went to different parts of the beach and found it very relaxing. sun loungers cost from 6 levs each item so two beds and one umbrella will cost 18 levs (this was going down the beach near Vagabond restaurant (which was nice had lunch here : their home brew beer was heaven). Further up the beach past Neptune Hotel the loungers were 7 levs each so it came to 21 levs there. This was a nice part of the beach too bars/cafe's on the beach. There are life guards and police walking the area - always felt safe.

The hotel on arrival keep your passport until you leave and you can hand in your hotel room key if you wanted to keep it safe but we kept ours on us.

Things to know before you go;

You will need small change for the use of nearly every toilet in Sunny Beach - apart from the hotel toilets. Most bars, restaurants and beach toilets have people sitting outside them who clean the toilets and they ask for the 50 coin - which is I think around 20p.

Watch out for the fruit sellers - do not accept the fruit they offer you - keep walking and just keep saying no thank you.

The people trying to get you into bars and restaurants are not that bad - not as bad as some other holiday resorts - if you don't want to go in just say maybe later......already eaten......just be polite and keep walking.

Walking along the beach front - there are a lot of bike taxi's: watch out for these - also they hire out scotters and other forms of transport which are all riden down this road if not careful you will walk into the path of one.

Fab restaurants include;

Djanny's - please do not go home without going here at least once.... out of the hotel go right but instead of going left down Flower Street where the Kuban Hotel is go right instead towards the Market area you will see the restaurant in the middle of the market area. Some times you may have to queue but they quickly get you seated - we only waited for about ten mins. Fab restaurant, fab prices and service here is brill - very friendly staff. (we went here three times it was so good)

Far..a - This restaurant looks a bit like a light house it's opposite Condor .... Go out of Diamond hotel go right along the main road the diamond hotel is on keep walking passed Flower street and in a few mins on the same side as Diamond you reach Condor (We did not eat here but heard this is nice) opp is Far..a again fantastic food, fab prices and service is very good.

Bars .
If you like Guinness try the Neptune hotel bar and wacky paddys which is attached under the Neptune Hotel both good - have live music on in both.

Arizona steak house have a live rock band playing who are very good.. we sat in the Scandals bar having loads of buy one get one free cocktails while listening to them. This is a fair walk down the beach front heading towards the majestic hotel.

The ship along the beach front near chaika hotel is fab for meals too.

Excursions - a must Khans tent .- good food, bottle of wine each with meal and fab entertainment. - everyone enjoyed the evening. we also did the beautiful south which was worth the money too. Didn't have time to do any others.
Had a fab holiday and wished we had booked for two weeks.
