We arrived at the hotel around 12:30 and had to wait around for an hour or two as check in was 14:00 (it was around 13:00 when the lady in reception approached us to let us know we could now check in). It would have been nice to have been offered a drink after being up since 01:30 in the morning, but the lady was friendly enough. When checked in, a man snatched our bag and started walking off towards our room (I was quite capable of carrying the bag myself), then once in the room he explained a few things about the hotel which was quite nice, but then stood staring at me, I assumed he was after a tip, but we had no change and the last thing we wanted to do was rummage through all of our stuff when we spent hadn't slept all night.

Once all settled we found the hotel quite nice and the staff behind the bars and in the food area were friendly enough, and could even have a bit of banter with some. Although I don't think some of them could speak English very well, as they struggled to understand some things I was saying. I ordered a water at one time and ended up walking off with a sex on the beach.

The food was average, I think we managed to have a try of everything that was on offer as it was similar each day. We did enjoy some things, but it was a bit hit or miss. Not too sure about eggy pasta for breakfast. A lot of the meats on offer were very fatty, especially the bacon in the mornings. We did like to eat out most of the time. Fresh pizza was available between lunch and dinner time, which you is served by the back pool. The soft drinks available tasted very cheap, but were drinkable. There's a coffee machine available too, which you can grab a cappuccino or hot chocolate.

The facilities were also good - there was three pools which were all spread out. Plenty of room so it wasn't crowded. The pool at the front was the quietest, nice to go if you want to relax and have a quick dip every now and then. The main pool towards the restaurant was the busiest, although still not overcrowded. The pool right at the back of the hotel is quite easy to miss, we only discovered this a few days into our stay. We did find the toilets near the pool didn't smell great at all, could do with a more thorough clean.

Location wise was perfect; not too far from the centre and only a quick walk to the beach. The area was quite quiet (not too noisy - except the horses trotting along the road), but still close enough to bars, restaurants etc. 24 hour supermarket just to the right as well, if you wanted to grab yourself a snack.

Overall it's hard to complain for the price. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone who's after a cheap break to Sunny Beach.

Hotel itself isn't to bad as in rooms are tidy and the 3 pools are nice the food is a food poising situation waiting to happen as it's coming out warm then sitting on warming plates but is cold and the staff are so ignorant the ability to smile has left there faces and are arrogant will not return !!!!

Not four stars. All inclusive with poor very cheap and bad quality food and drinks. A quiet place. I spent 2 precious hours with a team that tries to repair air conditioning machine that I don't need but they can't. There are a lot of places where you can eat or drink something good.

Room tip: No all inclusive meal and drink plan

Hotel Riva is a nice hotel in Sunny Beach situated at 150m from the beach. For a 3* hotel it looks very nice. It seems that is recently renovated. The outdoor is also very nice with 3 pools and a little playground. Conclusion: it worth all the money.

I went there with a group of friends for a week, i can say that our stay was pleasant and i can say that the hotel is good, however i could strongly recommend some improvements.

-very good and clean rooms
-very big,3 pools to use
-good rooms and clean for a 3 star hotel
-definitely worth the price
-close to the center of town

-Staff barely even speaks english and NEVER smiles. It would be so much better if they would make a smile once in a while.

-often impolite bartenders and staff, except ROMAN ;) very cool guy and friendly bartender, he is the best.

-not much diversity in food, usually the same food all week, although definitely not bad just boring to eat fries all week.

-expensive wifi for rooms, wifi only available in lobby

Overall we had a comfortable stay and i could definitely recommend the hotel for young people and families even. 4/5
