after reading all the reports...We was very aphrehensive....however we had nothing to concern ourselves about.....The staff were very friendly..and helpful....we wasnt to happy with our room ...the only reason is because with having a young child I didnt like being so high up...within 30minutes we where given an alternative room on a lower floor. The staff couldnt of been more helpful.....There is a mixture of families and 20somethings at this hotel but we never got disturbed....The only thing I wouldnt do is go all inclusive at this hotel again....as that is geared more to the 20somethings rather than families with young children.....but half board (definatley)....

2 friends and I stayed in the Hotel Diamond in June.

On arrival in the early hours the receptionist was very rude. We arrived in our hotel room to find a broken bathroom door which wouldn't close or lock, holes in the mosqito nets, stained beds, carpets and fag holes in the duvet.

Plug sockets and wires were hanging off the walls.

We stayed half board and the breakfast was ok. We only ate it because we were hungry. However, shortly after eating it we all got bad stomach pains. The evening food was shocking. Cut the fruit open and they were crueling alive with maggotts.

On the 3rd day we came back to the hotel to find some of our personal belongings had been stolen. We reported this to reception staff who had spoken perfect english all week up until this point. Advised they would check CCTV but it was no suprise when they told us it hadn't been working.

After this point the hotel staff made things very akward for us. Everytime we went down to reception they would laugh, point and hiss at us.

The local area was very unsafe at night. Gypsies everywhere and people being attacked in the streets. Lots of muggings took place very close to our hotel. It was so unsafe we stayed in all week.

Couldn't get in contact with the rep all week. Had to call my mother in the UK who rang them.Rep was rude and unhelpful.

This has been the worst holiday we have every experienced and was sheer hell!!

My partner and I booked to stay in the Diamond Hotel as part of a last minute deal to get some sun in late September. On our arrival at the hotel our hearts sank- we were looking forward to some 4* luxury but arrived at what looked like a run down, shabby old block of flats.
The hotel staff at the Diamond were rude and unforthcoming. They did not go the 'extra mile' you would expect when staying in a 4* hotel. They were miserable and did not seem to care about their visitors. We observed them clearly talking in Bulgarian about their English guests and appeared to have an attitude problem. Half way through the week myself and another guest were laughing at the bar whilst collecting some drinks. To my dismay the man serving the drinks looked me in the eye and laughed in my face. Understandably this was not only rude and unacceptable behaviour but also very upsetting.
When we got to our room we were initially indifferent about the dated decor and musty smell; after all, we were more concerned about relaxing in the sun and exploring the beach. However it quickly became apparent that the room had not been cleaned adequately before our arrival, and there were several inexcusable faults with our room.
Firstly, we were missing a shower curtain in our 'shower'. Mildew featured heavily on the walls and tiles and the ceiling above the 'shower' area was rotting and peeling away. Secondly, half way through our stay we noticed a huge dark patch on the carpet on the opposite side of the wall to the shower area. We eventually realised that the shower was leaking into the bedroom through the wall.
On closer inspection we discovered that one of the plug sockets in our room was hanging off the wall, our 'mini bar' did not work, the television remote was broken and when we did get the TV on the signal was poor.
The bedroom was carpeted throughout with an outdated style. The carpet clearly hadn't been cleaned for some time. When we pulled the disgusting sofa we had been provided with out from the wall to our delight we discovered a layer of old crisps and sweets from previous guests.
The pool facility at the hotel was not great. The water temperature was so low that it was unbearable. My partner usually spends the majority of his time swimming whilst on holiday and even he could not bear the cold. The sun loungers provided around the pool were of poor quality. Many of them were broken and unusable. More importantly though, the atmosphere around the pool and throughout the hotel was generally depressing and miserable.
The facilities included in the all inclusive deal featured drinks at the ‘bar’ from 11am through to 11pm. The alcohol provided was cheap, of poor quality and served in small plastic glasses. To our shock guests had to use these plastic glasses if they wanted to drink tea and coffee. The staff were strict on the times that drinks were provided, and just after 11pm all the lights in the outside seating area would be switched off to encourage guests to leave. The hotel featured three separate bars; however there was only one available in the all inclusive package. Guests were expected to pay for their food and drinks at the other two bars inside the hotel.
Arguably the most disappointing aspect of the hotel was the food. It was of extremely low quality and the choice was very limited. The eggs served with the breakfast were raw and freezing cold. The lunch and dinner options were limited and repeated each night. The food was always cold and we figured that the microwave in the dining area must have been provided to heat up our dinner! If you enjoy good food and do not care to dine on chips and questionable meat dishes every night I would strongly recommend you do not stay at the Diamond Hotel. My partner and I ended up eating out quite a lot as we could not continue to face the food included in our deal.
The entertainment provided in the hotel consisted of a man by the door standing in front of a keyboard. It was unclear whether he was playing the instrument as all the songs sounded like backing tracks. Sing-a-longs included ‘Lilly the Pink’ and ‘Oh bla di oh bla da’. The evening entertainment was provided in the bingo hall style dining area; there was no separate facility to dine or drink in.
The saving grace of the hotel were the nice people we met during our stay. We were all in agreement about how atrocious the hotel and the staff were and were eventually able to laugh about it. We all ended up eating out and staying away from the hotel during the day. The depressing atmosphere was just too much for us all.
Overall I would not recommend anyone to stay at the Diamond Hotel. We were able to observe other 4* hotels in the area where the standard and condition of the hotel seemed far superior to ours. My partner and I have stayed in many hotels and have previously stayed in a 3* hotel in the Golden Sands area of Bulgaria, however we can honestly say that this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The food, cleanliness, staff attitude, facilities and atmosphere in the hotel all contributed to what was overall a disappointing holiday. I have never felt the need to write a review of a holiday before but felt I had a duty to pass on my experience to save other holidaymakers having a similar experience!

I have just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel and I recommend that anyone reading this never goes to this hotel. I dont even know where to begin!!! The whole hotel is carpetted (except the reception area) which were covered in stains etc and i never once saw them cleaned. We were all inclusive, the food can only be described as utterly vile, there was chips, fish fingers, tomatoes and a couple of meat dishes but not much more. We ended up eating out the majority of the holiday. The food is also cold although there is a microwave there should you wish to heat it up, which we found very bizarre! The staff are plain rude, never a smile, please, thank you, good morning. They talk about guests in Bulgarian to eachother, making it plainly obvious. We had to drink out of plastic glasses all week, even at meal times or having tea/coffee. In the evenings, whilst having a few drinks, no one once came to clean the tables/ashtrays etc. There are 3 bars at the hotel but only one is available to on the all inclusive package, should you wish to drink in another of the bars, you had to pay for drinks. The staff laze around watching tv in the reception area all day and night. The swimming pool is unbearably cold, people were in it for a maximum of 5 minutes and there was never any more than 3 people in the pool at any one time. Never once saw the pool being cleaned and pretty sure there wasnt any chlorine in it either. 50% of the sun beds by the pool were broken and some actually broke whilst people were on them, leaving them collapsing on the floor. The 'spa' is disgusting, it smells musty and the price is much higher than for the same treatments at other hotels. The rooms are no more than a bedsit. The floor, shower and shower curtain are laced with mould, dirt and grime. Not once in a week was our bathroom cleaned! Our shower leaked through the wall into the bedroom causing a huge puddle of water on the carpet in the bedroom. Not all of the lights in the room worked and light bulbs have no safety protection on them. The air conditioning unit also leaked onto the carpet in the bedroom. The sheets werent changed until we complained at reception on the 5th day to which the receptionist said 'it isnt possible' to which we replied that we weren't lying and as we had to make the bed when we arrived, we knew it hadnt been changed. Our balcony door was broken when we arrived, meaning it wouldnt lock. When we complained to reception, we were told it had been fixed. On returning to the room, it wasnt. After 2 days, it was fixed. The view we had from the balcony was of a dirty street and an old supermarket. The communal toilets in the reception area were very rarely cleaned and were constantly blocked. Words cannot decribe the negative aspects of this hotel and to be honest there was not one positive about it besides meeting great people through us having a good old moan about the place and the fact that it was close to the night life. Sunny beach itself was ok although it was the end of the season so everywhere was closing down. Be extremely wary of prostitutes as many men had cameras and money stolen from them whilst walking down the strip at night time. Also, change your money before you go as people changed money and there and got ripped off or fake money back. If you are going to change money there use the 'crown' booths/shops as they are the official ones. Eating and drinking out was very reasonable which was a bonus given that we had paid for all inclusive and got inedible food. I wouldnt recommend going to this hotel ever and if you do choose to go to the resort of Sunny Beach, go when its peak season and everywhere is still open and the weather is better!

I went there with my friends, all inclusive, august 2010. Great Hotel, has two bars inside, a hair dressers, a casino, a tattoo place, gym, 5 computers, a medical centre, a massage place, two lifts and a little shop. Prices reasonable. One bar outside was all inclusive, along with the restuarant. Food not brilliant, but there was always something, whether it was pasta, salad, meat, pizza or chips. If you wanted to go out to dinner then there is a lovely restaurant across the road, and plenty of fast food outlets down the 'main strip' as we called it, which is a five minute walk. Lots of clubs and bars. And sex shops and markets. Beware, pick pockets! I got my camera stolen. Excellent nightlife. Beach is a fifteen minute walk, which is lovely but filled with sun loungers that you have to pay for. But the pool at the hotel is great. Plenty of things to do in the day - paintballing, go karting, quad biking, boat trips, mini golf, cabaret and two waterparks ( i recommend aquapark nessebar, as the other one was falling to pieces) there is a free bus to it. The airport is only half hour away. I found the shop keeper in the hotel was just plain rude. Overall a fantastic holiday, but deffinitely more for younger people - 18-30's! I'm 16, but theres no age limit for anything...
