We spent 10 nights there, so we got a pretty complete picture. The room was 4 *, except the air-cond. which blew straight on one of the beds. The cleaners and the hotel staff were friendly enough, except the pool bartender who never smiled and couldn't speak English. The pool was clean but small and the sundecks were never enough, some guests kept them occupied all day long with their towels. The beach was not very far (~300 m.) the sea was gorgeous and warm. Sunny Beach has no shade, all the vegetation was cut out to make room for the numerous hotels built, so you cannot cool yourself when outside it's hot. The food was the weak aspect, not varied, cakes almost in-existent, fruit likewise, the salads the same every day. We are not very fond of stews, but there was plenty, or the food was cooked in this manner, so we didn't enjoy our meals. Luckily, the good weather made up for this inconvenience.
