We have just returned from a one week holiday stay at this hotel. We where the first customers of the season. May is the month when this area is waking up and preparing for the coming holiday season. Weather in May is a gamble. We had looked at the forecast and prepared for cloudy, rain and windy. But we had sun almost every day and got a great tan! We arrived around midnight and check-in went well. Also the staff had left some sandwiches for us in the fridge (we had booked half board) that was a big plus. Staff in very friendly and helpful! One BIG minus is that the walls are paper thin! You can follow the discussion in the room next door, every door that is opened or shut you can hear and not to mention when the party people come home from the pub .... We do not normally mind noise, we travel with a child so we make some noise also but this is really badly sound proofed hotel. The breakfast is ok. Dinner is not much to mention... it takes away the hunger but it is really not interesting (same food every evening). The pool is very clean but also very cold!! As the beach is only a short walk away I recommend going to the beach instead. Many of the beach bars and restaurants have kids play corners or play area outside in the sand. Our kid loved these and we could eat in peace when she was having a great time too. I give this hotel 3 points due to the food.

Room Tip: Rooms above the restaurant have longer sun time, but the noise from the restaurant can be loud (if there is a party).

Myself and my boyfriend went last year in may. Overall it was a nice hotel, nice average room, clean and bar people are lovely!! The sandwiches during lunch time were great and breakfast was average (basics). Pool was too cold for me although there were people swimming there. Strawberry daquires are a must!!

However... the disadvantages... When we arrived at the hotel we were given two single beds that were pushed together and there were holes in the bed sheets, we complained and after a long argument they gave us a proper double bed. Also the cleaners stole 70euro which was about 140lev, my boyfriend left the money in his suitcase, which was closed, when we came back the clothes were messed up in the suitcase and the money was gone, he had euro there too but they only took the lev (didnt touch my money, i hid it weell) This was a disgrace, we complained to the manager, she couldn't do anything and nothing was done which was annoying.. so we asked for the cleaners to not come anymore.

Other than that it was a nice hotel, do not go in may weather was shocking!

Room Tip: Top floor to avoid noise

This was our first holiday and it was great. On arriving at Ivana Palace we were greeted at reception and told our room numbers, hotel staff kept our passports and we found this odd but continued onto our rooms anyway. The hallways scared me a little as the lights come on when they detect motion and sometimes are a bit delayed! At first we were not happy that we had been given 2 single beds as we had requested a double bed and were also upset that our balcony was much smaller than our neighbours and our view was just trees... We were on the first floor and all we could see were trees haha. Anyway, I went back down to collect our passports and everything worked out great from then on. The 2 single beds turned out to be a blessing as even for the beginning of June the air was still very hot at night so the air conditioning was on constantly in our room - another blessing!! The food for breakfast was very poor but we didn't mind as we aren't big on breakfast, you can order food from the bar nearer lunch time and we discovered that the pizza was amazing! 2 for 1 on cocktails most of the day, an awesome selection of coffees and hot chocolates from the lovely bar staff, friendly atmosphere from other tourists around the bar which was particularly good as this bar is basically 24hr. There was a small shop which came in handy also as me and my boyfriend loved a snack. There is the option to hire a safe for your stay which we done working out at a price of £30 for the 2 weeks I think! The safe is great for storing all belongings and to collect your things a member of staff walks you to your safe and stands outside the room to allow you privacy while providing safety! We loved this hotel so much as it was only a 5 minute walk from the beach and started at the best part of the strip! If you are eating out I recommend Hawaii! That place is amazing! There is no entertainment in the hotel but that wasn't a problem at all. We felt very safe during our stay and well looked after. The rooms were spotless and the bathroom which was my main concern was gleaming! The staff were the best of the best and it was very easy to change money with the best exchange rate in sunny beach! We never bought anything from the bar beside the pool. Pool was clean and just big enough to have lots of fun! The pool boy was very nice too! He was working away all day making sure the side of the pool was clean and doing his job well! Was very easy to get a sun lounger but not so easy to get an umbrella! People who are hot will do anything including pinching yours when you go for a drink haha!! The hotel is really quite quiet also and seems very empty when walking through the halls! We enjoyed our stay so much that we have actually booked up for the 23rd of June for two weeks this year only this time we are bringing our 2 best friends as I think we were bored with each other haha!! For our first holiday as a couple we couldn't have asked for any better and I advise you to listen to our review and give this little hotel a chance! We also found a secret gem! One of the lifts goes up to the very top floor where I think there should be a rooftop bar, it seems to be a rooftop terrace that looks over Sunny Beach and the view is good! This hotel was amazing and I hope I've done it some justice!!

Returned to ivana palace the first two weeks in september after our two weeks in june and had a lovely holiday. We have been going to Sunny Beach for 30 years and this is our favourite hotel. We have returned for many holidays and have already booked for june next year. The staff all know us now and we are always welcomed back warmly and Darina and Dido are just the best bar staff in sunny beach. The company we met were lovely and we had some great nights and plan to meet up again in ivana palace next September. Rooms cleaned daily as well as the towel changes done daily, food as always but we only do breakfast and eat out so no complaints their. Can't wait till 2014.

Room Tip: If going with family book a family room as the space is excellent

On arrival hotel was overbooked and was put into apartments for two days, they were ok but was then given an unsuitable room and had to move again, not best start to holiday and thomas cook rep nowhere to be found. The management staff were helpful and courteous and had obviously been on some customer relation training, the rest of the staff need to learn how to say hello, smile and appreciate that customers come first in this business or they will go elsewhere. The security boy on reception belonged in the gestapo and gave me the' us and them' feeling. Not bad hotel, all gym equipment either broken or in need of repair. Food not bad but hot food put out and left to cool for too long before opening dining room....don't get there early or your given the evil eye!! noise level from bar area too high late night

Room Tip: rooms overlooking pool are on sunny side
