SIDDHALEPA AYURVEDA HEALTH RESORT is a very beautiful resort, located in a wonderful tropical garden, just a few steps from beach and sea away. It is more paradise than a hotel. With very nice and friendly service, professional doctors, therapists and delicious and healthy food, make you find inside balance and peace for your soul again and help you to relax your mind and body. We have just returned from two weeks at the hotel. We did not go for the treatments, just for the sun. So, here goes our honest thoughts of the place. It's worth a visit but be prepared to not expect the luxury of a 4 star.

Good points...
Friendly staff with basic English. Even the gardeners greet you with warmth.

The sound of the exotic birds in the mornings is sublime.

Lovely gardens that are maintained beautifully. Palm trees everywhere and we were lucky to see monkeys in them twice! You can feed the fish in the long ponds they have surrounding the gardens.

Drinks - pineapple, passionfruit and mango juice is prepared fresh for you - warm, but delicious! Beer and wine cheap.

Rooms were clean (ish) but nothing seemed to fit or work properly and a lot of insects. Air conditioning - good.

Pool was gorgeous but there is no bar there as pictured and we got the feeling it had not been there for some time. Good loungers and the towl man is a sweety.

The buffet was first class in both choice, display and cleanliness. Delicious! Breakfast - also excellent. The teas are superb.

The restauraunt location was beautiful opposite the ocean surrounded by palm trees. We had many wonderful hours sitting there gazing at the waves.

Not so good points.....
The room was disappointing with gaps in the ceiling so creepy crawlies could come in, the doors didn't fit, wires were coming out of the ceiling fan, bath didn't fill up because the plug didn't work etc etc certainly not what you would expect from a 4 star resort.

We did not go for the treatments but were not tempted. A simple body massage was £40 and this would have been in an unairconditioned room. A high price to pay we thought. Other treatements were more expensive. With high humidity and high costs, this did not appeal.

There was no tour information in English, only files laid out for Germans and Russians. We had to find out from the front desk, where English was limited. I would have though a simple file put together with local information would not be too much to expect!

Following a tsunami warning, the manager had no communication skills with the crowd of workers and guests that were asked to rush to the lobby with their valuables only, and we sat for two hours, pretty scared with absolutely no updates. My husband and I suggested he get everyone together to do this which he did begrudgingly and to a low standard. Not a good manager! I believe this ties in with the general tiredness of the place and lack of little extra's that give a place 'class'. (Visable wiring, roof holes etc) There seems to be no quality control.

Beware of the waiters who ask if you were happy with their service and directly ask for money for a dress for their daughter! This was done after we left the restaurant and we were requested not to say anything as he would lose his job! We gave him some rupees and hoped it went on clothes for his little girl. Not sure if we were duped on this one. It's hard to say no when you think how much they earn.

OVERALL.
Sri Lanka is indeed a beautiful and fascinating country. We have wonderful memories of our holiday but do feel that tourists are ripped off with tuk tuk drivers starting off with huge fees for a fare and many beggars. The elephant sanctuary took us three hours to get to, but just from volume of traffic, not distance. Still, that was part of the adventure for us and when we saw them, it was amazing. The tea plantation and factory was fascinating and in our opinion, worth a visit.
We balanced our trip with total relaxation and a few day trips. The temples also are quite amazing, and of course they come at a price too. The turtle sanctuary is also interesting. You can actually touch them which was cool.

The hotel had many good points and we had very many lovely meals in a gorgeous setting.

Would we go again? Hmmmm, not so sure but it's definately worth a visit!

Room Tip: We had a balcony room but did not use it at night because of all the insects - cockroaches, mosquit...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Trip Advisor. We appreciate and value all your comments and will share them with our team as well. Thank you especially for writing a detailed response and for bringing to our attention the issues that troubled you. We apologize for them and have already taken the necessary steps.

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the location, the food and the service and we regret you found some aspects of your stay disappointing. The issues concerning the service level of staff have already been addressed; we apologize for the incident.

With regard to the tsunami warning, we had a fair number of guests comprising different nationalities and therefore communicating with all of them in respective languages did pose difficulties. However, many of our guests appreciated our efforts to ensure safety during that crisis hour.

Concerning transport, we do not recommend the use of outside vehicles that are not registered or of a reputed tour operator, as a practice, as we have our own travel counter with English speaking drivers for the use of hotel guests.

Continuous improvement is important to us and guest comments are invaluable to that effort; so thank you for bringing the issues to our attention.

We do hope to welcome you back to our hotel, to offer you a more satisfactory experience.

Sincerely,

We are proud to say this is the 04th time we were stayed at siddhalepa with Ayurveda treatments. We no need to think twise to have an ayurveda treatments at siddhalepa, because of they are the best in Sri lanka and Asia, only one company making all the Ayurveda product with their row matireal. We have seen all the thing in our own eyes.We have been several ayurveda hotel in Sri Lanka and Kerala in India. but siddhalepa is the best.

In the morning we started with yoga and we finshed with Meditation (optional).Day by day We having differant kind of Ayurveda meal. They have frendly spacific staff. They are the asset of Hotel, Spacially Chef Anil ,Suranga Front desk manager and Rohan - Genaral Manager, they are really take care about the clients.

In front of the beach there is a sea break. How ever half of the way removed that. Now we have facillty for sea bathing.Hotel situated at the remort village but every things are there. If you need to go for shopping or tours arrange by hotel in nice way with good price. But when you dealling with beach boys you should think twice.

if you need, you can have heli tour also there.it's nice experiance.

Room Tip: We stayed at nice sea view newlly renavated room facing to beach.
