Only stayed hear for one night on our arrival into Colombo before heading off with family for a "Homecoming". Fantastic Hosts, good sized clean room and ensuite. For breakfast we enjoyed a lovely home cooked srilankan meal which was in the guests option. Would stay here again if I was to return to Colombo.

Extremely welcoming and helpful staff. Very comfortable rooms and a well decorated and looked after small hotel. Location is good though there isn't much happening in nearby its ideal as a stop off on the way in and/or out of Sri Lanka

A great intimate beautifully furnished guesthouse. The managing couple waited for us at arrival and showed us our simple but very comfortable room on the first floor. There's a great lounge area and a terrace too to relax and watch movies if you want. The delicious breakfast was served downstairs, it was one of the best in Sri Lanka, the guesthouse is on walking distance from the beach and a taxi ride away from downtown Colombo. I'd stay here again.

We stayed here in January 2013 at the end of our trip to Sri Lanka. Having stayed in plenty of hotels during our trip we chose Mount Lodge for something a bit more homely and for a taste of traditional Sri Lanka.

Upon booking we were looked after very well by Ben who organised transfers, recommended itineraries etc.

At Mount Lodge Mr. Gamini and his Wife Padmini are excellent hosts - traditional Sri Lankan cooked breakfast every morning and great with other areas - arranging our taxis so we didn't get ripped off, advising us on restaurants, places to visit etc Mr Gamini even accompanied us to the airport at 3am for our return flight to make sure we got there ok!
In short, if you're looking for a well run, friendly, traditional Sri Lankan place to stay I would highly recommend Mount Lodge.

Mount Lodge is wonderfully intimate. Small, beautifully laid out and furnished it's just down the road from the Mount Lavinia hotel where you can use the pool. The husband and wife team on-site are attentive, friendly and very helpful. The food is really good.

Pleasant hosts and wonderful, genuine SL food, really delicious dinner all freshly cooked. We had the first floor room, comfortable bed, simply furnished. Small, spartan bathroom not en suite, no hot water in the morning, no toiletries. Polished concrete floors and lovely interior garden patios, smart furniture and layout. Upstairs garden patio with table and chairs but this was locked by the time we came back from our stroll (although I'm sure they would have opened it again, if we'd asked). Lovely sitting room adjacent to our room. Local architecture to see and get a flavour of life here. The hotel beach was recommended, the public one could have been lovely but wasn't clean. Far enough away from the train line that runs immediately behind the big hotel here, Mount Lavinia. Nice for an overnight stay. Thanks to very gracious hosts.

Dear Sandwich_Sue,

Many Kind thanks for your Trip Advisor Review. It is greatly Appreciated. We pride ourselves on and take claim to serving some of the best Sri Lankan Food in the City.

We are also very glad you loved the Design and Style of Mount Lodge as much as we do.

Our Apologies for the problem with Hot Water. I do hope you were shown the Heater Switch in the Bathroom. This is now part of the Welcome process so should not be a problem in future.

Sorry also for the Garden Balcony being closed on your return in the evening. We generally close earlier to avoid mosquitoes. I have now also asked our manager to ensure that Gardens remain open, lit and setup for guests until they retire to bed. Extra Coils will be lit both inside and out as needed to control mosquitoes.

We recommend Mount Lodge for Arrivals, Departures and for anyone wishing to Explore the City of Colombo. We also own and operate a Garden Resort 'Nisala Arana' in Bentota for those looking for a calmer & more relaxing style of holiday only minutes from the Beach.
