Description: Our space has a Cafe, an Art gallery,an open Terrace and lessons in Art & Music. Our Cafe, is a community hangout for all music lovers. The most played genre being Jazz. However, we do play Rock & contemporary music now and again. The food!! This is what we all look forward to and something that warms our hearts and brings about togetherness, gives us joy and comfort somehow. The food we serve is always freshly made. There's nothing like fresh food. We offer Sri Lankan coffee, tea, Signature Burgers, freshly made sandwiches & desserts that are the whipped together in a frenzy of creative & exuberant passion. We hire our space for Theme parties, coffee mornings, tea parties & meetings. There are a few rules about smoking - only tobacco and only on the terrace after 7pm. Our facility offers two art galleries 'The Dutch Entrance' and the 'Sunset Terrace' could be rented for exhibitions, book launches, poetry readings, plays, live acoustic music and other art related events. We encourage freedom of expression in every form. We've got all kinds of creative classes to get your imagination going and fine-tune those skills & that dormant right brain!!! Presently, classes are offered in Art Education, Piano & Guitar lessons. Do enjoy our space at Charcoal and take full advantage of your right to express freely!

Heard quite a bit of this place and took a walk down to looksie. Nice cozy coffee bar with some smooth vintage jazz tunes playing in the background, BIG mugs and lovely coffee. Ambiance was
really nice with a few bean bags and books to read. Lovely turntable lying on the coffee bar counter which could have been playing some vinyl. Chilled out rooftop, we happened to be there while some music classes were going on for kids and met the owner (lovely lady). Cute & interesting place. A must visit in Mount Lavinia :)

Charcoal Galley Cafe is unusual place on the map of Colombo. Food and drinks are simple but very creative. You can feel there artistic atmosphere because they organise also art classes. Employees can speak English fluent. Very often you can meet there owners - Priscilla and Ian - for sure you will like them. Prices are not very high, but quality of food and service are high for sure. My favourite food in this place was sandwich with chicken, ham and.. apple - surprising, but very tasty.

Went to Charcoal a couple of weeks ago and loved: The service, the food, the concept, the owner/managers, the coffee, the prices, the location, the terrace and even the big clean spacious bathrooms! Nothing more to add. ;-) Check out the photo I took of the scrumptious vegetarian dish I had.

Our family went for a swim at Mt Lavinia Hotel and head to this cafe for dinner.
We love the burger as it is very delicious; the portion is big and meat is very tender.
We also had a cheese cake which was Excellent! My wife loves it very much.
The chocolate mints cake is also very special.

It is a small cafe with high quality foods.
Will certainly visit again when our family visit Mt. Lavinia.

Dropped in for coffee and waffles on the morning of our departure and were very impressed both with the coffee and the whole concept of Charcoal. Lovely Priscilla showed us the works she had on exhibit at the time, and also chatted about things, and we had a long natter with an ex-pat American who'd been in Sri Lanka for 35 years. Interesting to get other perspectives on things. A lovely way to while away a morning.
