The Hotel Donaldson is without question one of the best boutique hotels I've stayed in. And given that I've travelled extensively for work and pleasure thru more than 40 countries over the last 25 years, I think it's fair to say I've seen a few. What's most remarkable perhaps, is that it's in Fargo, North Dakota.
My very large king suite was exceptionally well appointed with good furniture and local art, and it was exceptionally well priced for the quality. And while you will find cheaper in Fargo, it won't be anywhere near the quality nor centrally located, with almost all other accommodation of the chain motel variety, 'freeway adjacent' miles out in the burbs.
The service was first rate and the bar excellent.
And while there is no on-site parking, it's Fargo, not New York. So I had absolutely no problem finding a park within 100 yards out the front on Broadway on multiple occasions on a weekday.
Don't think twice. It's a great hotel. Straight 5's from me.
