This is a lovely newly built hotel. I was in Fargo on business in October. I stayed at this property Oct 11-15 and Oct 19-21 in two different types of rooms. The first stay was a day after opening this hotel. My reservation was for a standard room but due to my reservation being lost during the transfer from the old hotel to the new one, and issues which occured at check in, (also a Hilton Honors member) they bumped me into the King Balcony suite (room 303) for the same rate. I believe this room is the only one with a large walkout balcony; over the roof of the pool. Upon entering the room itself is very large and impressive, about double the size of a standard room. But during my stay I noticed issues - the bed is placed by the swing open door to the balcony. These was not a light-blocking curtain on the window of the door, so light from the outdoor floodlight came in making it difficult to sleep. The bed is also situation by the bathroom - the automatic lighting in the bathroom stays on far a long period of time. And there is a switchplate outside the bathroom with lighting behind it - that light glows 24/7; both lights reflect off of a mirrored closet and towards the bed. The room also seemed to be noiser in comparision to other rooms, which conversation...This is a lovely newly built hotel. I was in Fargo on business in October. The room also seemed to be noiser in comparision to other rooms, which conversation and bathroom activities heard from the ajoining room (I think it needed a sound guard on the bottom of the ajoining door). The rooms have automatic temperature systems and are set. I was quite cold in the room for a couple days - thinking the heater was not working - when I called the front desk I was told the room key needed to be placed in a slot by the front door to override the temp system. When checking in, they forgot to tell me about this. Overall, the room was attractive and spacious but I would not request this room again. (I also told hotel staff about all these issues since the hotel just opened and they may not be aware of them.) As far as the west-facing balcony, it would have been nice if staying with a large group of people and there were plastic pool chairs outside there to sit in; but the balcony faces a vacant lot and I really had no reason to utilize it. One inconvienence I did encounter was being locked out of my room. The key card would not work, even after being reactivated 3 times. The desk attendant also tried using the master key to enter but that did not work. A person had to be called in the room at at midnight to take the door handle off the door! I hung out in the lobby...More
