“Decent roadside overnight fare”

Nothing exciting but clean and comfortable beds for a family of three. Breakfast which is included was standard for these types of hotels. No restaurant.
We went into downtown Fargo (the Fairfield is on the interstate) for dinner at the Donaldson Hotel which at least in their restaurant was overly ambitious.
Nothing exciting but predictable, safe and clean

This hotel was clean. The mattress was comfy and there were more than enough cushy pillows (both feather and cotton) to go around. The decor was tasteful and not in need of updating. The builders did an excellent job with soundproofing. I noticed a tremendous difference in the noise level when our door was ajar as opposed to being closed. There was a nice variety of food at breakfast and the desk staff was helpful in locating attractions we wished to see. The elevator was handy for hauling luggage. If you want a quiet room, request one on the back side. There is an empty field behind the hotel instead of a parking lot or noisy street. The location is terrific. The hotel is located near, but not on the main shopping strip. It is also in close proximity to I-29.

We did not try the pool or jacuzzi, so can't report on those.

There were two things we didn't like. First, there are only six tables in the breakfast area. People would get up from breakfast rather than linger so others could have their tables. We had to wait for an available table as we have young children and didn't want to risk spilling on the lobby sofas. The second problem was the bathroom. I think they sacrificed bathroom space in order to make the room larger. I fell backwards against the toilet trying to get the door open. There is room for only ONE person to stand in the bathroom. The door must be completely closed in order to use the toilet. The vanity is large, but much of it is inaccessible because the toilet is in the way. The sink is in the same room as the toilet and shower, so that doesn't help the situation, either. Forget putting a chair in the bathroom and trying to read after the kids go to sleep. There is no room. We had a king room with pullout sofa. There were a lot of "dead" spaces in the room which they could have used to expand the bathroom. I'm not sure if the rooms with two queen beds had such small bathrooms.

Overall, our experience was OK.

Stayed at this property earlier this month (Aug 08) and found it to be quite clean, comfortable and decent for the price. As with all Fairfields, this is not a luxury hotel but more of an "upscale" (for lack of a better word) motel with a nice little free continental breakfast in the morning. There is an indoor pool and whirlpool but no exercise room (at least not one I could find). The hotel is conveniently located near the West Acres Mall, near a McDonald's and other restaurants. If you're a walker like me, the Mall is less than 10 minutes away and there is a movie cineplex right across the street from the hotel. Free wi-fi is also a plus for business travelers but there is no airport transportation unlike some other hotels nearby. Rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a 42" LCD tv in the room.

Prices are quite high in Fargo for a room considering the size and number of properties, but the Fairfield Inn gets my vote for good value for the money.

a good value for the dollar with rooms in overall good shape. however, our bathroom did look like it was in need of a little caulking and new wallpaper.
close location to the highways and right near the main shopping strip of the west acres mall all the shopping and restaurants around. walking distance to most.
morning breakfast was reasonable with make 'em yourself waffles, toast, muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt ,etc. m-f 6-9, sat-sun 6-10.
pool and hot tub were in good shape but a tad small. could use a small workout or fitness room.
overall, it was worth the $ and we will stay there again.

I agree with everything the first reviewer said about this hotel. We stayed one night and the midnight attendant was extremely accomodating to us. The rooms were spotless and complete with flat screen televisions. I couldn't have asked for a better stay.

I love when hotel staff exceed my expectations. The lady at check-in was so helpful and friendly. She made several suggestions of things to see and do while I was in Fargo. Who knew you could have this much fun in Fargo? I was just planning on staying in my room, but as it turned out I was rarely in my room. Her recommendations made all the difference in an otherwise humdrum requistite trip to ND. The hotel itself is in a great location: you can walk to restaurants, grocery store, movies, the mall. It is also less than a mile from the intersection of I-29 and I-94. The rooms are very clean and undercomfortable and the bathrooms very spacious. I really liked the free continental breakfast that actually did include hot Belgian waffles. I would highly recommend this hotel to all travelers - business and leisure alike. Enjoy your stay!
