Stayed here a couple nights while in town on business. The hotel is in a good location near the interstate and the mall, which means nearby dining. That said, its an older hotel, and really really spread out. Walking from the front desk down the long low hallway all the way to the back is a workout by itself. Room itself was decent, nothing outstanding, but most importantly it was clean, although the hall and elevators smelled like someone had recently been smoking in them. All-in-all, not great, but not bad, just average.

I appreciate your taking the time to review our hotel. We do at times get complaints because we are the biggest hotel in Fargo-Moorhead, but on the flip side of that we get plenty of compliments because the size of the hotel gives more options for location i.e. close to pool, far away from pool, quieter areas of the hotel etc.

It's unfortunate that you had an issue smelling smoke in the hotel. We are a 100% Smoke Free Hotel, so another guest must have been breaking the rules. I am so sorry for that. Typically our 24 hour security would have caught that. We try to keep it enforced, but sometimes people get away with it. Thanks again for your review. We hope that you visit us again so we can prove that we aren't an average hotel. We would love to keep your business.

Just arrived home from this hotel and we will certainly be back!

Front desk: the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with our questions, a pleasure to deal with.

Restaurant: There is no "free" continental breakfast at this hotel however for families, children under 12 eat free in the restaurant when with a paying adult. The menu was great and had a wonderful variety of options for all. We ended up eating several meals in the hotel restaurant due to the variety and enticing options on the menu which are all very well priced (our family of 4 ate for $20 with the kids eat free perk). All of the meals we tried were fantastic and the staff were all very pleasant. We only ate on the "cafe" side but you can eat from either menu in both restaurants which is nice.

Room: The room was a standard hotel room in our opinion, nothing fancy. We stayed in a 2 queen bed room on the first floor of the "tower'. The carpet in the room was damp and upon talking to the front desk we were told this is common in the hotel and they would check on it. The "tower" portion of the hotel was noticeably more humid then the rest of the hotel for some reason but once we had our a/c going it was fine. Some peeling wallpaper but other than that everything was in order. Comfortable beds and good climate control. Other then the very noisy family next to us, it was a quiet hotel and we all slept great.

Pool: Our children are 5 and 7 which made the pool perfect for them. The waterslides are geared towards the 10 and under crowd in my opinion (funny because when I was a kid it was a big deal if the hotel had a pool period, let alone a pirate ship!). A nice touch was that there were children's life jackets provided for guests to use free which was great for our younger one. There is a small bar that serves adult beverages in the pool area which was great. The hot tub was out of order while we were there.

Location: Excellent if you are in Fargo to shop as we were. Right across the street from West Acres Mall and within walking distance of many other stores and restaurants.

We came to this facility expecting a level of quality, it being a Holiday Inn, and did not get it. We had passed several competitors and were willing to pay the extra money for a little something special. When specifically asked the desk clerk assured us that the breakfast discount coupon applied and that the pool and whirlpool were 'very nice'. The breakfast coupon - in-house resturant - did not apply, the pool was filled to capacity, and the whirlpool was 'out of service' (actually boarded over, a construction zone). The room was nice if you like the 1970's. When confronted the management said "We apologize for our clerks mistakes regarding the pool, whirlpool and breakfast" but they did nothing else to make it right. We simply do not feel we recieved the benefit of our decision to stay at the Holiday Inn.

I want to thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel. I certainly understand your dissapointment and assure you that we will take steps to make sure our front desk agents do a better job of sharing information about our hotel whether it be how a coupon works or if we have a whirlpool out of service due to maintanance.

As managers, we should have responded better to your concerns. We really do care about your experience and want you to enjoy yourself and leave satisfied. We hope that the next time in Fargo, you consider us as your lodging choice. Shawn, Assistant General Manager

Stayed here for a couple of nights due to a wedding. Molly and Amanda at the front desk were terrific during the check in. Nice place, huge and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Water park is really for little kids and not much of an area for bigger kids and adults. Room was nice and clean-very updated. my grandson found a condom wrapper in the nightstand drawer- Had to explain it was not a new gum on the market. But the room was clean and I think it was just an oversite. If staying be prepared for housekeeping to come late in the day. I think this is a very nice property to stay at.

Room Tip: Get in the tower if you can

I'll make sure to pass on your very nice comments about Amanda and Molly. We are fortunate to have some very nice front desk attendants.

I do apologize for your "drawer" incident and will discuss with our housekeeping staff to look even harder going forward. Thanks again for your understanding. We can't wait to see you on your next visit to Fargo. Shawn, Assistant General Manager

We stayed at this hotel the last weekend of July /12. This hotel has a fabulous location, right across from the West Acres Mall and just of the I29. There are several restaurants within walking distance. The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were wonderful and tried diligently to assist us with nearby food, beverage and entertainment inquires. They even shuttled us to and from the restaurant of our choice for free. We did not utilize the pool as it was often filled with kids but they all seemed to be having fun and enjoying the pirates bay pool. The bar had a decent cover band, and they service was great there too. There is a decent workout place with several weight and machines for those who want to maintain a workout regime while away. Price wise it was a little costly, but all in all I would certainly stay at this hotel again.
