This is my favorite place to stay when we are in Fargo I love it. The bar offers free apps during happy hour. If you have kids the pool area is great and not too loud. Close to the mall and restaurants.

Room Tip: ask for a rooms close to the front desk

Holiday Inn Fargo is located just off I29 on a major retail / hotel strip.

We stayed for Fargo Marathon weekend, so the hotel was full. We were in the tower, but our experience was good. The room was quiet and tucked well out of the way of the noisy main hotel areas

Check in / out: Accurate and fast, even after my room mate checked out a day early and paid part of the bill then.

Room: As mentioned we were on the 3rd floor of the tower. The room was large, fairly well lit and done out in standard hotel fashion. The room had comfortable queen beds, good pillows, and a couple of chairs. There was a flat screen TV, internet, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, several mirrors, no fridge. Decorations were reasonable, the furnishings were well kept. Of note, there was no dust to be found, not even in those easily over looked place, something I find a rarity in a busy hotel. The carpet looked well worn but not at all threadbare. Heating / cooling worked, and we heard very little outside noise.

Bathroom: a little cramped, but the fixtures were well maintained and the water pressure in the shower was reasonable.

Pool: did not use

Parking: Plentiful

Restaurant: We only had the buffet breakfast here one morning. Cost $11 including coffee / juices and had a variety of hot and cold items that were replenished regularly.

Nearby: Drugstore 1 block west, liquor store 1 block west, grocery store 2 blocks west, gas stations within 4 blocks West Acres Shopping Mall across the street. Two banks were right outside the hotel.

Restaurants:Many nearby eg. Chilis, TGI Fridays, Paradiso, McDonalds all within 2-3 blocks. Many more on the same street.

Overall a reasonable hotel with friendly staff and very clean.

don't stay in the towers if you stay here - they are old and staying in the main building is better. the rooms are nice, nothing fancy but nice and clean. we've stayed her several times in our lives and only once did we have a bad experience, and that was just because we had a poolside room and the neighbors were being drunken fools til 4 in the morning. i would suggest not getting a poolside room if there is a big convention or event going on, because people and kids will be out there screaming and loud until midnight when the pool closes. we had a baby so that was not good for us. the drunk neighbors sucked too and we had to call security to come down in the middle of the night. but otherwise, our experiences there have been good.

I can echo what some other reviewers have said about the hotel needing refurbishing. the halls did smell like sickly sweet carpet freshener, and I could hear the man next door to me on the phone like he was in the room with me. Also could hear people in the hall so easily. I was in the tower and the room was quite big and clean, but I would prefer quiet over spaciousness. the free wireless internet worked well. overall I wish I'd chosen a different hotel.

While this hotel may have been a star in it's day, that day was probably about 20+ years ago. Hallways smelled of air freshner, rooms were old, carpet was old, bathrooms were old (layers and layers of caulking). It looks like a mini-update was tried, but the rooms (first floor tower) were on par with a Super 8. Certainly not Holiday Inn standard. I wouldn't be surprised to see IC hotels drop this property, just like they did in Grand Forks.
