We were in the area visiting Teddy Roosevelt State Park and stayed in Dickinson. The hotel is new and still in good shape, but the service we received at the hotel was lacking. It appeared most of the staff was new and they have not been trained.

We arrived fairly late from touring the park and the check-in went OK. One lady at the front desk was on a personal call on her cell phone during the entire check-in. The other lady that was helping me had to keep asking her questions, so there was a lot of back and forth that could have been avoided if the personal call had ended. The same two ladies did nothing to help us when much of the luggage on our cart spilled near the elevator. We were tired and trying to get our little guy to bed and they were not the least bit helpful. The next morning at breakfast they did not have a high chair so we had to have our son sit on our lap.

The room was a bit small, but nice and clean. It included a fridge and microwave. The room had only two towels and one wash cloth, so it took another trip to the front desk to get the supplies we needed. Breakfast was pretty good the next day.

The stay was not horrible, but I wish I had chosen a different place. In the future this place will probably be good, but they have some work to do.

When I crossed the ND line and went to the visitor center in Fargo, it was suggested that if spending the night West of Bismarck in Dickinson, I should call ahead because hotels there fill up fast due to the state's oil boom in that area and in the north. Glad I did, and at 2:30 PM on a Wednesday I got the last available room.
When I arrived around 6 PM, the common area was nearly full, mostly with oilmen. Front desk was staffed with one friendly woman who was also managing to keep the dining area stocked with food, answer phones, etc. With all of that going on, she remained calm and friendly.
Had a nice dinner and enjoyed the chicken dumpling soup and the minnestrone as well. Long breadsticks were good, and besides hot drinks and juices, there were apples, oranges, and three flavors of granola bars.
Room looked European in design, but larger in accordance with North American standards. Beds were clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was fine. I liked the shower as it had a stronger stream than most.
Washer and dryer was a nice touch; each cost $1.25 and soap was a dollar. Any decent-sized load will take two thirty-minute cycles.
During check-in, dinner and trips back and forth to the laundry, I noticed a couple of the oil workers blatantly staring constantly at three young girls in their teens and early twenties whenever they appeared from a room they shared with their family. It felt a bit creepy. But the other workers were fine, and the next morning there was more of a mixture of guests, all quite "well-behaved". Nothing against the hotel or the oilmen for that matter, but just thought it worth a mention.
