“Nice ride; not too much talking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Pleasant one hour ride. We went up-river for about 45 minutes; the trip back took just over 10 minutes. There is both an indoor part and an outdoor upper deck. There was some narration, but not so much that it was annoying. Drinks available for purchase. A very enjoyable, relaxed trip.

“Peaceful Cruise”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

Have ridden the Riverboat about 4 times in the last few years. Was a bit harder to make reservations this past summer. It is online only and you have to click through the different screens about 4 times before you get to the actual reservation page, and then sometimes by the afternoon of the cruise the page is closed. And I would definately recommend a reservation as sometime they can fill up quickly. Did two cruises this summer, one was totally booked and as we weren't there early enough we ended up w/ not so great seats and sharing a table w/ another group of two. So get there early! 30-45 minutes is recommended. If it is booked get in line for a decent spot up on the open air deck, if it is a slow evening then after you get your tickets you can always take a quick stroll along the river before boarding.

The other time I went this summer, there were only about a dozen other people w/ us. That was a nice evening. Lots of room to move around the boat and take pictures.

Have never eaten on the boat - prices seem kind of high, but the BBQ sure smelled good! Drinks are reasonable. Beer was $4something and mixed drinks are $5.

Overall it is a nice relaxing cruise on the river. Reservation/customer service leaves a little to be desired.

“Relaxing, but not much more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

This is a very relaxing float down the river. We did deal with the load speaker noise initially, but I think someone must have requested to have it turned down and it was done. Not much of an experience for our 5 year old son, but a beautiful night for my husband and myself. Surprisingly drinks were reasonably priced, nothing great about the service or the ammenities. We had made reservations with no problems. Our worst experience was the arrival, driving into parking lot to park, and almost T-boned by another car flying through the parking lot and parked onto the boat ramp, to find out it was the bartender for the cruise.....not a great first impression!

“Something to do in Bismarck”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

If you're bored, which is easy to do in Bismarck, this can take a few hours out of your afternoon. It's a slow one-hour boat ride up and down the Missouri. You can't hear the narration over the boat noise and chatter of other passengers. The Captain gave a safety speech (as required by USCG) before leaving port, but didn't seem to mind that a large group of people was blocking one of the two passageways on the upper deck right behind him for the entire trip. In addition to being a safety violation, it made it difficult for the waitress to bring refreshments up from the lower deck snack bar.

So if you've got nothing better to do, give it a try. If you get there early enough to choose a seat on either side, I recommend the starboard (right) side for afternoon trips.

“It was OK.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012

Interesting to see how high the flood waters were. The taped messages were not very loud, so you really had to listen. No "live" comments about the homes we were going past, if there was anything to comment about. No rich and famous homes along the river? The pizza meal was good, although restricted to ONLY two slices. Nice way to spend an hour and a half, but nothing spectacular.
