“Skyscraper on the Prairie”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

Unique architecture. Very modern, even nearly a century after it was built. Tours are interesting, though the assembly chambers were closed for renovation when I visited. They should be open again now. The view of Bismarck from the top floor is impressive. Also impressive is how much of the government is housed in this building. Very little additional office space is needed.

“Nice capitol, very nice grounds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

We actually stopped bu on Saturday and so the building was closed. But my husband and I were very impressed with the manicured grounds, statues and memorials around the building and heritage museum.

“A Must When You Visit Bismarck- and bring your Camera”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

The "mini skyscraper" Capitol building sits on beautiful park-like grounds. There are a number of monuments and statues, and another museum to see on the grounds. At the right time of year, 4th of July for instance, you will find a public festival on the Capitol Grounds. The building is really beautiful inside. Take advantage of a (free, I think!) guided tour. You can walk around by yourself, but a guided tour is informative and fun and they can let you into areas that you won't see on your own. (Tours:Tours are available year around - Monday through Friday Tours: Hourly 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. On Weekends and Holidays EVERYONE MUST have a guided tour only). Walk-ins are welcome and large groups can schedule a tour. From the top of the building there is a beautiful panoramic view - neat photo op!

“Most Economically Efficient State Capitol building in the Union”

A working monument to the hard-work ethic of the people of North Dakota. The wide boulevard in front of the capitol offers room for light recreation in view of the capitol, legislative, and judicial buildings.
