There's a model of the USS Bismarck that was used to show congress what they would be getting for their money before it was approved to be built. Also they have the Silver Service that the officers mess used in the old US Navy. That was enough for me but of course there's much more.

There are many pictures and documents of the settlement of this area.

Also some nice pieces of early farming and transportation.

Some full size replicas of Native American housing.

Taxidermy of all the native wildlife.

And a full on paliantalogy exhibit, with a complete Wully Mamonth.

“nice place to see the history of North Dakota”

We love going to the Heritage Center every year. But, they have been working on a update for about 2 years now. So if you are in Bismark, dont go. I think it will be done in the Spring of 2014.

“great place to take the kids”

my 4 and 5 grader had fun here, great place to take the kids on a hot or cold day... I liked they had things for the kids.. did not like it was hard to find what building it was in

“They are closed for renovation. Reopening in 2014”

Nothing was available to see due to remodeling. It is conveniently located on the grounds of the State Capitol Building.

“Great for all ages”

There are so many things to see at the heritage center for all ages. Wonderful history and learning center!
