Had a great stay at La Quinta in Bismarck. There were lots of restaurants near by, close to shopping and rooms were comfortable and clean. The toddler pool was great, a walk in entry was perfect for our little ones. The breakfast was pretty good too with a fair amount of choice. We will recommend and and will be back ourselves.

New hotel. Still mostly new looking throughout. Front desk staff were nice and did a good job customer service wise. Rooms had plenty of space. HUGE plus that the heating and cooling unit is not right next to the beds. Wish they had a variety of pillow types. DVD player in room was great! Big plus for traveling with kids.
2 speedy elevators. large breakfast area with 3 tvs and wide assortment of food choices - like biscuits and gravy, burritos, yogurts, fruit, waffles, etc.
The pool area is cute but gets crowded fast because of how it's shaped. It's very narrow in the 3 and 4 ft area where the slide is. Several times a kid came down the slide and landed on a swimmer. The basketball area is fun if you are in the pool alone. Otherwise avoid this area. Very poor judgement displayed by both tweens and adults and regulation leather balls were being launched from too far away and the misses hit lots of kids who weren't playing basketball in the head. Fun pool if there are under ten kids. Can't safely handle more than that.
Location - next to lots of dining options and not too far from shopping, Kmart and Walmart. Parking lot a little on the small size though.
Nice hotel overall.

At first glance this hotel looks amazing. It is recently built, well decorated and had good size rooms for the $$$. The staff was friendly and efficient on check-in and check-out. The wi-fi worked wonderfully from all over the hotel.

The pool is on the small size, but does have a small waterslide for the little kids and was warm enough. The hot tub was also quite pleasantly hot.

We stayed in a two queen room, and it had more than enough space, a nice flat screen TV, clock radio, desk, and comfy arm chair. The washroom was a generous size for this class of hotel and had lots of towels.

We had the free breakfast each day, and while it was not extraordinary, in general it was better than the continental breakfasts in most hotels. A couple of hot dishes were included. The first day it was eggs and sausage, the second biscuits and gravy. Both of which were mediocre but thoroughly edible. The cold part of the continental was typical fair. The bagels and English muffins were fresh, and the milk and juice cold and seemed fresh enough. We weren't there either evening, but they also have some food and drink around at dinner time as well.

My only knock would be on the housekeeping. There were dust bunnies under the bed and between some of the pieces of furniture, the vacuuming was spotty at best and I don't think the sink or the tub were cleaned while we were there. The one day one of my fellow travelers poured out some coffee in the bathroom sink as we were leaving and it was still there when we returned well after housekeeping had left.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms near the elevator and the ice machine, they can be quite noisy. The rooms at the fa...

We booked the Whirlpool Suite for nice weekend getaway. We checked in quickly and the staff was pleasant. The lobby area is nice combined with the breakfast area. There a large place for breakfast and places to sit net to the fireplace and watch TV, read or sit on your laptop. There is a selection of tea and coffee downstairs at all times too. The lobby has also has a shop with treats although there is a gas station next door which is probably cheaper. Our room was very nice. One big room with a king bed and upgraded linens. There was a big TV with a hidden microwave, fridge and DVD player. The bathroom is large and has a nice shower/tub. There is extras such as full sized mirror, hair dryer, coffee maker and ironing set. Our other mini room was a hot tub with couch, chairs, breakfast nook and another TV. It was nice you could watch TV in hot-tub or just sit on the couch and read. We did not have the breakfast but it looked very good with a hot and cold assortment.

I have to say the one downfall is they did not sound proof the rooms well. There were kids running down the halls late at night the and we could here then. A bit annoying when you are paying a lot for a romantic time away, our rooms were almost $380 for 2 nights. Also they put all the suites near the elevators, we could hear people coming off and on at all the times, not very good building plans. They should had all the suites on one floor so it be more quiet.

Room Tip: My tip if you don't get suite get a room away form the elevator. But again the whirlpool suite...
