We stopped at Oceanic for lunch on Saturday during the 4th of July holiday weekend. Needless to say, they were BUSY, but the service was exceptional - parking for the patrons on their lot is very convenient, the hostess seated us on the pier in the shade, the server (Scot) was very courteous, food and drinks arrived fast, and the manager checked on our experience after we were done. Now to the nitty-gritty: we tried 3 different cocktails from the menu and they were all on the weak side (and they were the ones with multiple liquors in them, so I would imagine a simple gin-and-tonic would feel really light but I can’t say for sure since we didn’t order one). Hot crab dip was not bad, but it was a very small portion for $11.99. We both got crab cake sandwiches as entrees since this was a recommendation of a local resident (not restaurant staff), they were tasty with a lot of lump crab meat and very little filler (red peppers and celery were unusual but added a local flavor). The manager stopped by and we gave him our honest opinion about the drinks and complemented the service and the view. We were not unhappy with the whole experience and we were not complaining about it so we were very impressed when he caught up with us again as we were just about to leave the restaurant and offered to take the drinks off the bill – which we declined and then he offered us a free brunch the next day – which we declined again as we were leaving town. This attention made the visit worthwhile and showed the management cares about the customers, so I will consider Oceanic during my next visit to Wilmington.
