“Delicious !”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

Local diner. Great breakfast hidden jewel ! Off Eastwood Drive just over drawbridge toward Wrightsville Beach. Huge portions, hash brown with skins, great omelets and biscuits and gravy. So many items on menu to mention. You will find something...from crab omelet, fish fingers with breakfast, big sausage links, dozens of omelet options, eggs/bacon, etc. etc. etc. Owner Mike comes around several times to chat and make sure things are great.

“Great food, kid-friendly,beachy feel, nice owner!”
Reviewed May 26, 2012

We had breakfast with our two young boys here and it was really a great time. There is a nice deck in front for the waiting area-nice beachy breeze! I suggest getting there as early as possible, as there can be a longer wait as the morning goes on. If you haven't had your coffee yet, Mike's announcement of the names will wake you right up! He seems like a nice guy, though and nice to the kids. It was really nice to see an involved, hands-on owner who is not pretentious. We had the french toast (very good), green chile omlette (very good) and grits (very good!). The OJ is fresh squeezed-a nice surprise! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back! Loved it! It looked like there may have been some specials on the chalkboard out front that weren't on the menu, so be sure to check that out! Also, I didn't see any outdoor seating, but inside was fine.

“A great breakfast!”
Reviewed May 20, 2012 via mobile

Can you say homemade biscuits? Oh my. Garden and Gun Magazine ran an article in their last issue about Wilmington and the Causeway Cafe made the cut. My husband and I tried it this morning (Sunday) and it is worth a visit (or two or three). Food is great---the wait can be long, but you can lounge around on the porch and drink coffee!

“Interesting Place; Good Food”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Mike is loud, very loud. He kept making me jump out of my seat whenever he bellowed out the next diner's name. We were lucky; we got there just before it got busy. When we left there was a 45 minute wait. They serve breakfast which is kind of a rarity on Wrightsville. The food was very good. I had trout and eggs. The trout was prepared just the way I like it. The cafe has that "Mel's Diner" approach with a maritime flair. It was wall to wall diners the day we were there, which attests to its popularity. All in all, one of the best places we ate.
