Awesome place! Went twice in the same trip! A must visit! Just don't drink the tap water. Kids and adults alike loved it. Fresh fish. Crab dip is a must to order.

“Vast Improvement!”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

For awhile, the King Neptune had been a run-of-the-mill, nothing to write home about, forgettable seafood restaurant, better known for its bar. That changed with a recent ownership change (2010 or 2011). The fried foods are now very lightly breaded and fried in a good oil that does not transfer other food tastes to the meal. While I had the scallops both nights we ate there, the others in my party all raved about their meals. The halibut was "to die for", the fish tacos were "scrumptious", the fried shrimp were "delicious", and the seafood hibachi bowl was "incredible". We will definitely be at the King Neptune every time we're at Wrightsville Beach!

“$1 Taco Tuesday”
Reviewed May 20, 2014 via mobile

Definitely try the tacos. We stopped for an early dinner, because we had overheard some of the locals talking at the beach. Great quality of fish and I love fresh fried oysters. However don't drink the water it's from the tap and taste terrible.

“Best Brunch!!”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

We went to Wrightsville Beach for the weekend and went for Saturday brunch...we went back for Sunday brunch because there was nowhere else we wanted to eat!! Highly recommend the chicken and waffles - also get the grits...they might be the best I've ever had!! Great service, friendly staff. We will be going back!

“Great food-dirty feeling-robotic waitress”
Reviewed March 26, 2014

The food was very good and service was fast. While fresh-caught options were available, we did no partake.

The staff were not over-friendly and the atmosphere felt...dirty, for the price. I love a hole-in-the -wall restaurant that serves great food, but I don't expect to pay a premium at these locales. $25+ for King Neptune Platter (not fresh) that my daughter and I split.

Flounder=very good
Bacon wrapped scallops=very good
Oysters=very good
Cole slaw=very good
Crab cake=below average
Hush puppies=very good

Other fare sampled:
Clam chowder=good, with a strong flavor unusual for clam chowder
Fried shrimp=good
Fried flounder=very good but small piece

If the facility were updated and cleaned up, I feel the experience would match the price point and would rate an above average. Across the street from the beach, but no scenic views available.
