My friends, my family, and myself have stayed at the Gull for over 10 years with wonderful treatment by the staff. But this last visit was a very bad blemish on a very good record. A TV falling off of the support while he was adjusting it struck my 35-year-old son. The management made the assumption that it was done during vandalism and made threats of police involvement. This management is relatively new and apparently inexperienced in the responsibilities of managing and maintaining a safe environment. While in discussions with the management the management made threatening statements and was accusatory rather than listening to any other possibilities other than those already under assumption. This management also claimed to have knowledge of how things fall but did not acknowledge having an engineering degree. All in all I hope that the results of the incident are for a safer environment and better service for people visiting Wrightsville Beach.

Loved Wrightsville Beach and the Silver Gull. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Every room I saw overlooked the beach and ocean. Would like to go back for a longer stay.

Beachfront accomodations at Wrightsville Beach are so-o-o pricey.
Silver Gull Motel is definitely worth the money.
I wanted a beachfront room to share with my daughter and grandchildren for my 65th birthday - checked a lot of places on the 'net; asked a lot of people - I was surprised at the price: $165 plus tax when I called to make a reservation (our TripAdvisor web page lists the average price as $60) and I was a bit concerned when my cousin said 'yeah, that place will be okay'). Turned out to be a wonderful choice! We stayed in room 210, a corner room, big balcony, looking right out at the ocean. We woke up to the sunrise, and were on the beach at 6:30 am!
Not a fancy place, nor is it funky (no moldy smell, as one often finds at the beach). The staff are friendly, and very helpful.
You can easily walk into a business district - we shopped at Roberts Grocery, ate at King Neptune one evening - excellent choice with young children - and at Tower 7 for lunch on Sunday - the fish taco there is to die for!; and breakfasted at Johnnie Mercer's Pier - amazingly tasty food comes out of that fisherman's kitchen.
If you want to love a weekend at Wrightsville Beach, and don't want to spend $300 a night - go for the Silver Gull!

Saw the reviews around this and didnt find one that was negative or derogatory. Gave it a shot. Definitely a great place. Stayed in Room 326. Great view on the balcony. Motel is right on the beach. Staff was great, polite and responsive. Will definitely be going back there.

We stayed at the Silver Gull Motel overnight when we decided to celebrate the coincidence of a wonderfully warm weekend and back-to-back days off by going fishing in Wrightsville Beach last weekend. The motel had some mixed reviews from previous guests, so we didn't quite know what to expect when we got there. From the very first moment we stepped into the office to register, the folks that took care of us could not have been more helpful, pleasant or friendlier. We had an extremely comfortable room with a view of the pier and a nice balcony, a perfect little kitchenette which was nicely stocked with new-appearing pots, pans, dishes and cutlery, and pleasantly comfortable beds and pillows! The only, very small drawback was a not-well-resurfaced bathtub, but since we prefer the shower, which had plenty of hot water and water pressure, we barely noticed.

The proprietor was always ready with tips and traveller's aid, the cleaning staff were friendly and courteous, there was hot coffee, under-hotel parking that made our stay as pleasant as any we've ever had, handcarts for the luggage and a working elevator (a rarity at many of the beach spots we've been). Our only regret was that we couldn't stay there a few more days. Thanks to everyone who made our getaway weekend such a pleasure!
