Description: We are overlooking the scenic anchorage on Banks Channel, located on beautiful Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Our restaurant has been the Local's favorite since 1997. We welcome our guests with consistent, creative cuisine served in a friendly, casual atmosphere. You can enjoy a great burger sitting outside on our patio for lunch or experience the unique, eclectic, regional cuisine at dinner of our Chef. His menu highlights the bounty of Sea and Land, locally sourced. We also have Gluten Free/ reduced items.

We usually dine here off-season, but went on a summer Saturday night with friends.

The summer menu was filled with creative seasonal starters and entrees . We shared the fish nachos, which were very tasty. One of the special entrees was Grouper Lumina, perfectly fresh and topped with mushrooms, roasted corn and red peppers. Osso Bucco, fresh flounder in a simple lemon butter and seafood lasagne were all delicious and perfectly prepared. Nice wine list, too.
Dessert was home-made key lime in a lovely crust and not-too-tart filling. A great meal enjoyed by all!
Cramped interior and six of us squeezed into a small table is our only negative comment about South Beach Grille. If it has been cooler outside, we would have requested a patio table.

We had a family dinner here while on a quick trip to the beach. They are busy so we called ahead and made a reservation without issue. We sat on the patio which can make for nice sunset views other than the vehicles driving by and close quarters seating. (Keep in mind it's a college town) The food was good but not outstanding. The waitress failed to tell me about and off menu special that I would have really wanted to try. My wife's dish was an interesting spin on eggplant which she liked. Friendly service and good food but nothing over the top.

As frequent visitors to Wilmington we have our favorite lunch spots along the coast and have enjoyed numerous lunches at South Beach Grill. During our last lunch we enjoyed the clam chowder and fried pickles immensely. However, the mediterranean panini was a huge disappointment. The salmon served on this panini filled one-quarter of the sandwich. When I pointed this out to our waitress she apologized and said she would speak with the manager. To his credit, the manager admitted the portion was much too small and brought out some additional salmon. Sadly, even this additional portion was not adequate for a sandwich this size. To her credit, our server removed the cost of the sandwich off our bill which was the appropriate thing to do. More importantly, how could the chef send out such an inadequate sandwich to begin with? Over the years we've enjoyed many meals here, but there have been a few inconsistencies the last 2 years. We hope the management will find a way to resolve some of these culinary issues.

After reading not so good reviews in urbanspoon, we went here anyway after another couple at the hotel recommended the place and the menu did look good. We had good service with a nice wine recommendation. The bang dang calamari were awesome. The restaurant needs better AC. We will go back if ever back in the area.
