“Down Home Barbeque”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

This is what most people would call a Dive but they have really good food. Its located in an out of the way place in Winston-Salem, small building, not real pleasing to the eye, but the food is good. They are a icon in Winston-Salem and have been for many many years. When Piedmont Airlines was just down the Street, their employees frequented the establishment often. Its a taste of an era gone by, that still satisfies your taste for barbeque.

“Great BBQ and Hot Dogs”
Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

I've been coming here for over 30 years and my parents and grandparents as well. It's a dive but I believe we will find all great food in the best dives.

“Nothing else like this! unique FUN- better for mod temps no indoor dining”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

This is a flavor of Olde South in Winston-Salem- where locals once went for barbecue and hotdogs. You would sit under a huge oak tree and a pic nic table and have a sandwich with your family. The only problem was deciding if you wanted a barbecue or hot dog. The slaw was amazing on both with the best buns in the world. Children would order a chocolate drink and parents usually purchased a cheer wine. Speculation was often what was done in the other room you could never see- probably because you never closed or locked doors back then. At the end of your meal most would order a fried pie, either apple or peach and life was good and simple. Not much has changed for flavor and it was wonderful and still is you can come in your beat up clothes or suit-makes no difference, no judgment here. One of the places where time has stood still. When we went temps were extremely cold- remember you eat in your car or outside. and if you ever wanted to eat at a place seen on "best of the Best" Rachael Ray rated this the best hot dog ever!!! Super CHEAP!!! inexpensive TASTE TO TRY THE BEST WITHOUT IT COSTING A BUNDLE*****

First time in 30 years, just as I remembered. Still good as ever! Good to see something's haven't changed. BBQ bun alittle different but still good, hot dog exactly the same- liked the toasted bun.
