Village Tavern Reynolda is normally my favorite place in town for a "nice" meal and a great place for a business lunch or out of town guests. We had a gift card for VT, and a reason for a small celebration, so we went to brunch/lunch at VT. I ordered my VT favorite - their very special meat load and mashed potatoes, plus an iceberg wedge salad. The meatloaf was good, but not great. The mashed potatoes were rather ordinary. The wedge was very good. My wife ordered a crabcake benedict because VT normally has the best crabcake in town. Again, it was just okay today, not up to the usual high standard.
VT Reynolda has a heated outdoor tent that is normally a very pleasant place to eat. It's much quieter and less crowded than inside the restaurant proper. When we were there it was cool and rainy outside, so the system that heats the tent was working hard to keep up. Most of the time it was comfortable, but there were over-warm times and chilly times, too.
We have been to VT many times and for all kinds of reasons. We have never been disappointed before. So we will go back. Today was not their shining moment.
