“Village Tavern is usually better”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

Village Tavern Reynolda is normally my favorite place in town for a "nice" meal and a great place for a business lunch or out of town guests. We had a gift card for VT, and a reason for a small celebration, so we went to brunch/lunch at VT. I ordered my VT favorite - their very special meat load and mashed potatoes, plus an iceberg wedge salad. The meatloaf was good, but not great. The mashed potatoes were rather ordinary. The wedge was very good. My wife ordered a crabcake benedict because VT normally has the best crabcake in town. Again, it was just okay today, not up to the usual high standard.

VT Reynolda has a heated outdoor tent that is normally a very pleasant place to eat. It's much quieter and less crowded than inside the restaurant proper. When we were there it was cool and rainy outside, so the system that heats the tent was working hard to keep up. Most of the time it was comfortable, but there were over-warm times and chilly times, too.

We have been to VT many times and for all kinds of reasons. We have never been disappointed before. So we will go back. Today was not their shining moment.

“Great meal”
Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

In town for a college tour for my son. Had the crab dip, and a pizza and the shrimp and grits all very good. Small restaurant so we had to wait a little bit, but overall a nice place.

“Where we go when we want to feel like we're home”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Between the cozy atmosphere, friendliest servers in town, and a diverse menu that gives everyone something to choose from, this is the place we go after a long day at work to relax and come back to our senses. One martini from Josh's hand followed by one of the best burgers in town and you feel whole again. Their home made chips with a side of ranch are also the best emotional eating in town. Their Sunday brunch is really good as well - though I wish they served breakfast on Saturdays!

“The older sibling of the Village Taverns”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

I find this original location to be superior to the location on Hanes Mall Blvd. The character and ambiance is among the best in Winston-Salem. The food is always good and the bar is one of my favorites in the city. If you have the chance to enjoy the al fresco dining in the Spring or Fall, you'll be glad you did. The food is prepared with the freshest of ingredients and the service is excellent. All-in-all, you'll be glad you tried this local landmark restaurant.

This place is always consistent. Good food at a great price. On the spring and summer they have wonderful outdoor seating.
