“Anniversary”

Our room was very comfortable and clean. The center had a unique feel and historical significance. The tour was interesting and meals were cozy with only three couples in the private dining room. We chose this place for our 42nd anniversary - just to have a different experience. It was quite close to Mt. Airy - our day trip.

Based upon website and location proximity to Wake Forest we stayed here. The grounds and exterior of buildings are beautiful but walk inside and the rooms smell stale and the place is quite dreary. I was glad we stayed in the cottages as they are much fresher than Manor, Bernard Cottage or Mews but that isn't saying much. Also workout facilities are truly unusable - they are small and dank. Definitely a nicer setting than Marriott in town but not of the quality I expected for the price or the way it is described on line.

First, an ode to Larry, the delightful gentleman who greeted us, took care of us, told wonderful stories and clearly loved his job and the blessing of spending his working hours at the Graylyn. He was wonderful, and what a lovely spot! Don't let the "conference center" title fool you if you're looking for a hotel for a visit to Wake Forest or any other reason you're in the W-S area. The Graylyn is the fabulous old estate transformed into a country-house style hotel. We stayed in the Mews which worked for our family. They recently completed a renovation of that part of the property which now feels like a Ritz or Four Seasons, but is a bit of a walk from the pool and breakfast room. I've vowed to stay in the Manor House next time because it is gorgeous and looks like something out of Downton Abbey, complete with that level of service. The grounds are gorgeous. Stay, walk, relax, feel special for as long as you can afford it. And do say hello to Larry if he hasn't found you to say hello first.

We stayed here while visiting Wake Forest University. We stayed at the Mews center. It was nice, but I had stayed there a couple times before and stayed at the Manor House. The Mews center was nice, the Manor House is great. Stay there, but ask for the Manor House. They have beautiful grounds, a swimming pool, and great food. I had dinner there in the past, and fantastic breakfast there this last time. If visiting WFU, stay here.

Room Tip: Stay at the Manor House

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Graylyn for our Anniversary. We were assigned a marvelous room on the antique floor and were given a small private dining room for one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. Brunch was the wonderful as well. The entire staff was really kind and gracious and helped make our Anniversary stay a wonderful experience. We were particularly impressed with the way the entire staff shared bits of history. Thank you so much!!!

What can I say - from the moment we drove up to the main house- to the moment we left- we were treated with the best southern hospitality money could buy - in fact, we got a glimpse into what it must feel like to be royalty. This enchanting hotel offers a medieval/elegant vibe. It's not your typical Ritz in style - it has its own style/personality - but definitely first class. Perfect location for Wake Forest visit. Free breakfast was full blown - nothing held back (pancakes with warm peaches, eggs, bacon, grits, pastries etc.) Unlimited free icecream, hot chocolate, coffee for kids was a great touch for families with young children.

I enjoyed staying in the newly renovated Mews at Graylyn. Every member of the staff there and in the Manor House went above and beyond to be sure my needs were met and questions answered. It was amazing how they all took pride in their work and seemed to really enjoy showing off this magnificant location. It was great walking on the beautifully kept grounds and exploring the historic buildings. I definitely plan to return as soon as I have the opportunity.

Room Tip: Mews have been recently renovated and are more up to date than those in the Manor House.
